The 1991 European Figure Skating Championships was a senior-level international competition held in Sofia, Bulgaria on 22–27 January 1991. Elite skaters from European ISU member nations competed in the disciplines of men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dancing Ice dance (sometimes referred to as ice dancing) is a discipline of figure skating that historically draws from ballroom dancing. Sofia
Sofia ( ; bg, София, Sofiya, ) is the capital and largest city of Bulgaria. It is situated in the Sofia Valley at the foot of the Vitosha mountain in the western parts of the country. Vyacheslav Vasylovych Zahorodnyuk ( uk, В'ячеслав Васильович Загороднюк, born 11 August 1972) is a Ukrainian former competitive figure skater. He represented the USSR until its dissolution and then represented Ukraine. He is the 1994 World bronze medalist, 1996 European champion, and 1989 World Junior champion. Personal life Zahorodnyuk was born on 11 August 1972 in Odessa, Ukrainian SSR. He married Ukrainian ice dancer Olga Mudrak in 1994. They have a son, Maxim (born August 2005), and a daughter, Alina (born in February 2009). Career Zahorodnyuk was initially coached by Galina Zmievskaya. Competing for the Soviet Union, he won the 1989 World Junior Championships. Oliver Höner (born 18 September 1966) is a Swiss figure skating coach and former competitor. A member of EC Zürich, he became an eleven-time (1979, 1980, 1982, 1984–1991) Swiss national champion and placed in the top ten at five ISU Championships – four Europeans and the 1989 Worlds in Paris. Steven Cousins (born 24 May 1972) is a British former competitive men's singles figure skater. He is the 1993 Skate Canada International bronze medalist and an eight-time British national champion. He finished as high as 6th at the Olympics (1998), 7th at the World Championships (1998), and 4th at the European Championships (1996).
