1989–90 FIS Cross-Country World Cup
The 1989–90 FIS Cross-Country World Cup was the 9th official World Cup season in cross-country skiing for men and ladies. The World Cup started in Soldier Hollow, United States, on 9 December 1989 and finished in Vang, Norway, on 17 March 1990. Vegard Ulvang of Norway won the overall men's cup, and Larisa Lazutina of the Soviet Union won the overall women's cup. Igor Badamshin
Igor Gayniachmetovich Badamshin (russian: Игоръ Гайниахметович Бадамшин) (June 12, 1966 – January 24, 2014) was a Soviet/Russian cross-country skier who competed from 1989 to 1997. He won a bronze medal in the 4 × 10 km relay at the 1993 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in Falun and earned his best individual finishes of 5th twice at the world championships (1989: 50 km, 1993: 30 km). Badamashin's best individual finish at the Winter Olympics was 14th at the 50 km event in 1994. His best finish was second place three times, earning it once in 1989 and twice in 1996. Örnsköldsvik
Örnsköldsvik (, ) is a locality and the seat of Örnsköldsvik Municipality in Västernorrland County, Sweden, with 32,953 inhabitants in 2017. Alexey Prokourorov
Alexey Alexeyevich Prokurorov (russian: Алексе́й Алексе́евич Прокуро́ров; 25 March 1964 – 10 October 2008) was a Soviet/Russian cross-country skier who competed in the late 1980s and 1990s for both the Soviet Union and Russia. Career Prokurorov was born in the village of Mishino of Vladimir Oblast, Russian SFSR, Soviet Union. Prokurorov's biggest successes were winning the gold medal in the 30 km freestyle and the silver medal in the 4 × 10 km relay at the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary. At the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships, Prokurorov earned a total of six medals. Vladimir Mikhaylovich Smirnov (russian: Влади́мир Миха́йлович Смирно́в; born 7 March 1964) is a Kazakh former cross-country skier who raced from the 1982 until 1991 for the USSR and, later, for Kazakhstan. He is the first Olympic champion from independent Kazakhstan and the most decorated Olympian in history of Kazakhstan. He is also a vice president of the International Biathlon Union. Reit Im Winkl
Reit im Winkl is a small village (locally known as a snow-magnet ) located on the German/Austrian border in the southeastern part of Bavaria, Germany in the Traunstein district, and was previously an immigration and customs control point (prior to the formation of the Schengen Zone). Torgny Mogren
Torgny Mogren (born 26 July 1963) is a Swedish former cross-country skier who competed from 1984 to 1998. He won the gold medal in the 4 × 10 km relay at the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary. His best individual finish was a fifth in the combined pursuit at the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville. Mogren's biggest successes occurred at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships where he earned nine medals. This included four golds (4 × 10 km relay: 1987, 1989; 50 km: 1991, 1993), three silvers (15 km, 30 km: both 1989; 4 × 10 km relay: 1991), and two bronzes (50 km: 1987, 10 km: 1991).
