1989–90 England Hockey League Season
The 1989–90 English Hockey League season took place from October 1989 until May 1990. The Men's National League was sponsored by Poundstretcher and was won by Hounslow. The top four teams qualified to take part in the Poundstretcher League Cup tournament which was won by Havant. The Women's National League was introduced for the first time and the inaugural Women's National League title sponsored by Typhoo was won by Slough. The Men's Hockey Association Cup was won by Havant and the Women's Cup (National Club Championship finals) was won by Sutton Coldfield. Men's England Hockey League
The Men's England Hockey League is a field hockey league organized by England Hockey that features men's teams from England and Wales. Format Regular season There are 62 teams in the league, the top tier consists of a Premier Division of twelve teams. Below this is tier two, which consists of two ten-team Division One regional teams (North and South). The third tier consists of three regional conferences North, West, and East, all consisting of ten teams. The teams play each other home and away during an 18 week season from September to April. The league has a winter break between December and February. The winners of the Premier Division regular season automatically qualify to play in the Euro Hockey League. League Finals Weekend The top four Premier Division teams from the regular season qualify for the League Finals Weekend. Old Loughtonians Hockey Club
Old Loughtonians Hockey Club is a field hockey club based at the Roding Sports Centre, Luxborough Lane in Chigwell. Club The club runs ten men's and five women's teams in addition to junior teams from u8s to u18s. The men's first XI play in the Division 1 South of the Men's England Hockey League. The women's first XI play in the premier division of the East Area hockey league. History The club was founded in 1921 after the Loughton Hockey Club had disbanded during World War I. The name Old Loughtonians referred to members of the Old Loughtonians, former pupils of Loughton School which opened in 1890. In 1963 the club opened its doors to all-comers following the demise of Old Buckwellians’ Hockey Club. Ladies teams were also created and in 1980 the club opened its new grounds at Luxborough Lane. Leicester City Hockey Club is a professional field hockey club based in Leicester, England, who play their home games at St. Margaret's Pastures. The ladies side has produced a number of international players and is recognised as one of the most successful clubs in England having won six league titles. Russell Simon Garcia (born 20 June 1970) is an English field hockey coach and a former England & GB field hockey player. He won a gold medal with Great Britain at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul at the age of 18 years 3 months, making him Britain's youngest ever Olympic champion.
