Rhythmic Gymnastics Junior European Championships
The Rhythmic Gymnastics Junior European Championships are the European championships for junior gymnasts for the sport of rhythmic gymnastics. They were first held in 1987. Prior to 1993, they were held as a separate event. Since the 1993 edition in Bucharest, Romania, the Junior European Championships were integrated to the senior European Championships. The competition is organized by the European Union of Gymnastics. Ada Liberio
Ada Liberio Romo (born 10 August 1974) is a retired Spanish Rhythmic gymnastics, rhythmic gymnast. She is a European and world medalist. Biography She trained at the Zaragozano Gimnasia Sports Club, being trained by Cathy Xaudaró. Along with other gymnasts such as Ana Bolea or the sisters Elmira Dassaeva, Elmira and Cristina Dassaeva, she made the club become one of the leading teams in rhythmic gymnastics at the regional level for several decades. In 1984, she ranked fourth in the children's category and won the silver medal in rope and the bronze medal in freehands and hoop at the Spanish Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships, Spanish Championships. In 1985 she was champion of Aragon in children and runner-up at nationals. Becoming champion of Aragon in children again in 1986 and winning bronze in that same category in the Spanish Championships. Cristina Chapuli Egido (born 18 January 1975) is a retired Spanish rhythmic gymnast. She was World champion in 1991. The generation of gymnasts that she was part of is known by the nickname "Primeras Chicas de Oro". Biography Cristina started her sport career at the Club Atlético Montemar in her native Alicante, a club that saw the rise of other prominent gymnasts such as Carolina Pascual, Marta Baldó and Estela Giménez. In 1989 she was called up by the Spanish national team to join the junior group, trained by Rosa Menor, Paqui Maneus, Cathy Xaudaró and Berta Veiga. In the Junior European Championships in Tenerife, the group made up of Carmen Acedo, Noelia Fernández, Ruth Goñi, Eider Mendizábal, Montserrat Martín and Gemma Royo, with Cristina and Diana Martín as substitutes, won bronze in the group All-Around. Gemma Royo Lorte (born 20 March 1975) is a Spanish retired rhythmic gymnast. She was World champion in 1991 and two-time European champion in 1992. The generation of gymnasts that she was part of is known by the nickname "Primeras Chicas de Oro". Biography Gemma tool up the sport in 1982 at Club Escuela de Gimnasia Rítmica of Zaragoza. Trained by Chus Garcés, she would participate in several Spanish Championships in different categories: children, pre-junior, junior and first category. In 1987 she got bronze i ex aequo with Rosabel Espinosa in Palma de Mallorca. That same year she also became champion of Aragon and soon after, in the Spanish Group Championships held in Onteniente won another bronze in the children category. Montserrat Martín López (born 2 December 1974), also known as Montse Martín, is a retired Spanish rhythmic gymnast, graphic designer, painter, illustrator, actress and dancer. She was World champion in 1991 and two-time European champion in 1992. The generation of gymnasts that she was part of is known by the nickname "Primeras Chicas de Oro". Biography Montserrat took up the sport at the Sicoris Club of Llrida at age 6, being trained by Merçè Humedas and Conchita Durán. Later she trained with the Catalan School of Rhythmic Gymnastics in Manresa. In December 1988 she was proclaimed Spanish group champion in the 1st category in Playa de Aro. This team was coached by Berta Veiga and the future national team gymnast Carmen Acedo was also in it.
