1989 Caribbean Championship
The 1989 Caribbean Cup (known as the Shell Caribbean Cup for sponsorship reasons) was the first edition of the Caribbean Cup, the football championship of the Caribbean, one of the CONCACAF zones. The final stage was hosted by Barbados. The tournament was sponsored by Shell Company Ltd. after the tournament was first thought of by employees of Shell Antilles and Gulanas Ltd. Barbados received a bye to the final round as they were hosts of the competition and Shell (based in Barbados) felt that it was better suited to host the tournament as Barbados have an international airport. 1990 Caribbean Cup
The 1990 Caribbean Cup (known as the Shell Caribbean Cup for sponsorship reasons) was the second edition of the Caribbean Cup, the football championship of the Caribbean, one of the CONCACAF zones. The final stage was hosted by Trinidad and Tobago. The tournament was not completed. Play was suspended when Jamaat al Muslimeen attempted a ''coup d'état'' of the government of Trinidad and Tobago. The tournament was abandoned altogether after Tropical storm Arthur forced the cancellation of the final round of games. Trinidad and Tobago were to meet Martinique in the final, and Jamaica and Barbados were to meet in the third place match. Sint Maarten () is a constituent country of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in the Caribbean. Wayne Joris Hood (July 23, 1913 – January 30, 1988) was born in Waupun, Wisconsin. He was a manufacturer in La Crosse, Wisconsin and was active in Republican politics for many years. Dwight Yorke
Dwight Eversley Yorke CM (born 3 November 1971) is a Trinidadian and Tobagonian former professional footballer and current manager of Australian A-League club Macarthur FC. Throughout his club career, he played for Aston Villa, Manchester United, Blackburn Rovers, Birmingham City, Sydney FC and Sunderland, mainly as a forward, between 1988 and 2009. He was the assistant manager of the Trinidad and Tobago national team until the completion of the qualifying matches for the 2010 FIFA World Cup. Philibert Jones (born 12 November 1964) is a former international footballer from Trinidad and Tobago who played as a striker. He is currently the Assistant Coach at United Petrotrin in the TT Pro League.
