The 1988 Campeon de Campeones was the 35th edition of this Football in Mexico, Mexican Super Cup football (soccer), football match played by: * 1987–88 Mexican Primera División season, League winners: América * 1987-88 Copa Mexico, Cup winners: Puebla The first leg was played on 7 July 1988 at Puebla and the second leg was played on 10 July 1988 at Mexico DF. In the first game, Puebla dominated over América but in the second game América saved the match with two goals and became winner of the Mexican Super Cup Campeón de Campeones, a competition that had not been played since 1972. Adrián Chávez Ortiz (born 27 June 1962) is a Mexican former footballer who played as a goalkeeper. Early life Chávez was born on 27 June 1962 in Mexico City, Mexico. His father was Al Pinkston, an American baseball player who was playing for Rojos del Aguila de Veracruz of the Mexican League at the time of his birth. Pinkston wanted to take Chávez with him back to the U.S., but his mother wouldn't allow it, going as far as changing Chávez's name to prevent him from doing so. Chávez never met Pinkston in person, but in 1982 he attempted to reach out to him after learning of his heritage, only to find out that he had died a year earlier. Joaquín Caparrós
Joaquín de Jesús Caparrós Camino (born 15 October 1955) is a Spanish football manager. After winning the Segunda División with Sevilla in 2001, Caparrós was a regular on the La Liga sidelines for the best part of two decades. He coached Sevilla, Deportivo de La Coruña, Athletic Bilbao, Mallorca, Levante, Granada and Osasuna in the top flight. Luis Enrique Fernández Figueroa (born May 22, 1951) is a Mexican former footballer, who played most of his career with Puebla F.C. Club career He began his career with them in the mid-1970s, when the club had been promoted from the Segunda División. In the 1970s, he was a key player with Puebla's promotion and avoiding various relegation tournaments. In 1978 he transferred to Atlante F.C., where he played until 1981. In 1982, he returned to Puebla, where in 1982 he helped the club win its first Primera División Profesional against Chivas in a memorable penalty shootout where he scored the final goal to clinch the title.
