The Soviet First League in football (russian: Первая лига СССР по футболу) was the second highest division of Soviet football,Evgeni Kazakov. 1988 Soviet Second League
The 1989 Soviet Second League (russian: Чемпионат СССР по футболу 1988: Вторая лига) was the Soviet third tier competitions of the Soviet football championship. The competitions of the league were conducted as part of the whole Soviet event and were split in nine groups geographically as regional zones. There were 169 teams that completed the season with the most teams (26) competing in the Zone VI and smallest zones IV and IX having 16 teams. In the article a regional designation in parenthesis is conditional (for better perspective) and was never actually openly publicized. The competitions were composed of two stages starting with nine zonal groups, nine winners of which would qualify for three group promotional double round-robin tournaments (Zone Finals), three winners of those would actually gain their promotions. Draw Limit
Draw limit is a restriction on number of games drawn in a season. It was an administrative measure in league football competitions that was implemented in the Soviet Union by the Football Federation of the Soviet Union in 1978-1988. The reason for such measure was to fight match fixing as well as increase the entertainment and intensity of the national championship. The limit provided that over certain set number of allowed draws no points were awarded for any additional drawn games. For example, if the Federation set the draw limit at 10 for a given championship, points were awarded to teams only for the first 10 drawn games and none for any additional. FC Dinamo Batumi
FC Dinamo Batumi is a Georgian football club based in Batumi, Adjara, and current vice-champion of Erovnuli Liga, the top division of Georgian football system. The club has won the league (2021), the Georgian Cup ( 1997-98) and Super Cup (1997-98, 2022). They have also earned silver medals of the league five times. FC Spartak Vladikavkaz (russian: link=no, Футбольный клуб «Спартак Владикавказ») was a Russian association football, football club based in Vladikavkaz (formerly Ordzhonikidze), North Ossetia–Alania. FC Kotayk
FC Kotayk ( hy, Ֆուտբոլային Ակումբ Կոտայք) is a defunct Armenian football club from the town of Abovyan, Kotayk Province. History Founded in 1955, Kotayk was one of the oldest football clubs in Armenia. After playing several years in the Armenian SSR League as well as the Soviet First League, Kotayk made their debut in the Armenian Premier League in 1992. They participated in the European Cups for the first time in 1996–97. In the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup winning 1–0 at home against AEK Larnaca from Cyprus. After losing the 2nd leg away from home with a result of 0–5, they were eliminated. However, the club was dissolved in 2005 due to both financial and non-financial shortcomings.
