1986 NSL Cup
The 1986 NSL Cup was the tenth edition of the NSL Cup, which was the main national association football single-elimination tournament, knockout cup competition in Australia. The competition was known as the Nanda Soccer Cup for sponsorship reesons. Sydney Olympic FC, Sydney Olympic were the defending champions, having defeated Preston Lions FC, Preston Makedonia to win their second title in the previous year's 1985 NSL Cup final, final, but they were eliminated in the quarter-finals by Canberra City FC, Canberra City. Hakoah Sydney City East FC, Sydney City defeated West Adelaide SC, Adelaide Hellas 3–2 in the final to win their first NSL Cup title. As winners, they qualified for the Oceania Cup Winners' Cup. Hakoah Sydney City East FC
Maccabi Hakoah Sydney City East FC, commonly known as Maccabi Hakoah, is an Australian semi-professional soccer club based in Sydney, New South Wales. The club was formed in 1939 as Sydney Hakoah by members of Sydney's Jewish community. They played between 1977 and 1986 in the National Soccer League as Eastern Suburbs (1977–1979) and Sydney City (1979–1987). One of the most successful sides in New South Wales and interstate competitions in the 1960s and early 1970s coached by the now retired Bob Szatmari, Hakoah were also one of the main instigators for the establishment of a national league. Hindmarsh Stadium (currently known as Coopers Stadium due to sponsorship from Adelaide-based company Coopers Brewery) is a multi-purpose stadium in Hindmarsh, an inner western suburb of Adelaide, South Australia. It is the home of the Australian A-League team, Adelaide United. Olympic Park Stadium (Melbourne)
Olympic Park Stadium was a multi-purpose outdoor stadium located on Olympic Boulevard in inner Melbourne. The stadium was built as an athletics training venue for the 1956 Olympics, a short distance from the MCG (Melbourne Cricket Ground), which served as the Olympic Stadium. Over the years it was the home of rugby league side, Melbourne Storm and the A-League team, Melbourne Victory; throughout its life the stadium played host to athletics.
