1985 Danish Speedway Season
The 1985 Danish speedway season was the 1985 season of motorcycle speedway in Denmark. The season was the last season before a new professional league was introduced called the Danish Superliga. Previously the league consisted of multiple amateur teams and Danish speedway suffered from the fact that many of their top professional riders chose not to race in Denmark. Individual Danish Final (world championship round) Seven riders from the Danish final would progress to the Nordic Final as part of the 1985 Individual Speedway World Championship. The final was held on 5 May at Brovst and was won by Hans Nielsen. Region Varde Elitesport and Outrup Speedway Club is a speedway club southwest of Outrup in Denmark, who compete in the Danish Speedway League. History Outrup Speedway Club was founded in November 1973 and the speedway track was opened on 3 July 1976. In 1986, a new stadium opened which was adjacent to the old one and is currently located at the Outrup Speedway Center, Hennevej 35, 6855 Outrup. The Danish Speedway League ( da, Dansk Speedway Liga) or Danish Super League or Metal League as it is called today is the top division of motorcycle speedway in Denmark. Danish Under 21 Individual Speedway Championship
The Danish Under 21 Individual Speedway Championship is a competition for riders who are under the age of 21, holding a Danish passport and a valid DMU licence. The competition was first staged in 1960 and was won by Jorgen Hoffman. Although there was no competition in 1961, the event returned in 1962 and has been staged every year since. Kenneth Bjerre holds the record for most titles with four. Peter Glanz
Peter Lybaek Glanz (born 3 May 1962) is a former motorcycle speedway rider from Denmark. Career Glanz started his British leagues career during the 1983 British League season, where he rode for Reading Racers. He continued to ride for Reading for five years and became an integral part of their team during that period. He went on to earn three caps for the Denmark national speedway team. In 1988, he joined four other fellow Danes at Wolverhampton Wolves for the 1988 British League season following problems with a deal with the King's Lynn Stars. In 1989, he moved down a division to join Mildenhall Fen Tigers in 1989. He finished runner up in the British League Division Two Pairs Championship, with Preben Eriksen (who had also joined Mildenhall from Wolves) for the 1989 National League season. He switched to Milton Keynes Knights in 1990 and despite being the teams's top scorer the Knights finished last. He was part of the Milton Keynes team for the following two seasons ... Flemming Rasmussen (speedway Rider)
Flemming Rasmussen (born 1 January 1958) is a Danish sound engineer, record producer, and owner and founder of Sweet Silence Studios in Copenhagen. He is chief sound engineer at Sweet Silence Studios. Biography Throughout his career, Rasmussen has worked with many different music genres, but is best known for his work with heavy metal. Rasmussen began his career as an assistant at the Rosenberg Studios facility run by producer/engineer Freddy Hansson. In 1976, Hansson founded the Sweet Silence Studios and brought Rasmussen with him. In 1980, Rasmussen became co-owner of the studio, and one year later became an engineer, recording the 1981 album '' Difficult to Cure'' by Rainbow. This subsequently attracted Metallica, who brought in Rasmussen to work on their album ''Ride the Lightning'' (1984). Jan Stæchmann (born 5 June 1966 in Kolding, Denmark) is a former professional motorcycle speedway rider and manager of the Denmark national speedway team, Danish national team. Career In 1991, he won the British League Division Two Riders Championship, held on 14 September at Brandon Stadium. He led Denmark to the 2006 Speedway World Cup and 2008 Speedway World Cup, as well as the 2010 U21 Team World Championship. Joined commercial rights holders BSI Speedway (IMG) on their media production team as broadcast co-commentator for 2011 and 2012. Kurt Hansen (born 2 October 1964) is a former motorcycle speedway rider from Denmark. Career He competed in two finals of the Speedway Under-21 World Championship (known as the European Championship at the time). The first was as a reserve in the 1984 Individual Speedway Junior European Championship and the second as an outright qualifier in the 1985 Individual Speedway Junior European Championship, where he finished in 9th place. Danish Individual Speedway Championship
Individual Speedway Danish Championship is the National competition for Danish speedway riders to determine the champion of Denmark. The event was first held in 1947. From 1947 to 1951 there was no definitive difference between the short track and long track Championship of Denmark resulting in the same winner being recorded for both versions. Qualification Riders holding a Danish passport and a valid DMU licence. Riders must submit their entries at least four weeks before the first meeting of the competition. Any riders who competed in the Speedway Grand Prix or World Championship Qualifying rounds during the previous season are seeded directly to the Final. The DMU may also seed other riders directly to the Final at their discretion. Either one or two Semi-Finals are staged depending on the number of riders entering the competition (excluding the seeded riders who go straight through to the Final).
