1984 Metro Manila Film Festival
The 10th Metro Manila Film Festival was held in 1984. Cherubim Films' ''Bulaklak sa City Jail'' won most of the awards including the Best Picture Award, Best Actress for Nora Aunor and Best Director for Mario O'Hara among others. A total of nine entries participated in the "filmfest" and saw the debut of ''Shake, Rattle and Roll "Shake, Rattle and Roll" is a song, written in 1954 by Jesse Stone (usually credited as Charles Calhoun, his songwriting name). Maria Theresa "Tita" Sanchez Muñoz (1926/27 – April 11, 2009) was a Filipina actress. Muñoz started her career in radio in the 1950s. She moved to Sampaguita Pictures where she played mostly character roles. She received a FAMAS Best Supporting Actress nomination, for ''Lilet'' (1971). During the 1960s, Muñoz and Ronald Remy became the first actors to ever kiss on Philippine television. In 1990, Muñoz portrayed the mother of Leslie Cheung's character in Wong Kar-wai's ''Days of Being Wild''. Personal life Tita is survived by brothers Rafael and Cayetano, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews including the Muñoz actor-brothers Leandro, Carlo and Angelo (sons of Tita's late younger brother Louie) who are now based in the United States. The Experimental Cinema of the Philippines (ECP) was a government-owned corporation of the Republic of the Philippines created to promote the growth and development of the local film industry. Created in 1982 after the first Manila International Film Festival through Executive Order 770, the ECP was primarily known as a production company. However, it was created among other things; to hold the Manila International Film Festival, to manage the Manila Film Center, administer a film rating and classification system and to establish and operate the National Film Archive. It was also mandated to provide financial assistance to select motion pictures through a film fund. For purposes of policy coordination, it was placed under the Ministry of Tourism. Ricardo Vizcarra Michaca (10 December 1947 – 11 October 2016), known by his stage name Dick Israel, was a Filipino character actor who played mostly villain and sidekick roles in many Filipino movies. He later branched out in television playing father and supporting roles. On 11 October 2016, Israel suffered blood vomiting, and later died in his home, according to actress Vivian Velez, a member of the Damay Kamay Foundation. He was 68. His wife, Marilyn Michacha, died less than week later due to unrelated circumstances. Rodolfo Valentino Padilla Fernandez (March 3, 1952 – June 7, 2008), better known as Rudy Fernandez or Daboy, was a Filipino actor and producer. He came to prominence as an action star in Philippine cinema during the 1980s up to the early 1990s.
