1984 Davis Cup World Group
The World Group was the highest level of Davis Cup competition in 1984. Australia were the defending champions, but were eliminated in the semifinals. Sweden won the title, defeating the United States in the final, 4–1. The final was held at the Scandinavium in Gothenburg, Sweden, from 16 to 18 December. It was the Swedish team's first Davis Cup title since 1975 and their 2nd Davis Cup title overall. Davis Cup
The Davis Cup is the premier international team event in men's tennis. It is run by the International Tennis Federation (ITF) and is contested annually between teams from competing countries in a knock-out format. It is described by the organisers as the "World Cup of Tennis", and the winners are referred to as the World Champion team. The competition began in 1900 as a challenge between Great Britain and the United States. By 2016, 135 nations entered teams into the competition. The most successful countries over the history of the tournament are the United States (winning 32 titles and finishing as runners-up 29 times) and Australia (winning 28 titles, including six with New Zealand as Australasia, and finishing as runners-up 19 times). Slobodan Živojinović
Slobodan "Bobo" Živojinović ( sr-cyr, Слободан Живојиновић, ; born 23 July 1963) is a Serbian former professional tennis player who competed for SFR Yugoslavia. Together with Nenad Zimonjić, he is the only tennis player from Serbia to be the world No. 1 in doubles. As a singles player, he reached the semifinals of the 1985 Australian Open and the 1986 Wimbledon Championships, achieving a career-high ranking of world No. 19 in October 1987. Paul McNamee
Paul McNamee (born 12 November 1954) is an Australian former doubles world No. 1 tennis player and prominent sports administrator. Tennis career Juniors In his hometown, McNamee won the boys' singles tournament at the 1973 Australian Open. Pro tour McNamee is the only player to switch a grip as a professional, changing from a one-handed backhand to two-handed in 1979. He won two singles and twenty-three doubles titles during his professional career. A right-hander, he reached his highest singles ATP-ranking on 12 May 1986 when he became the world No. 24. Royal King's Park Tennis Club, founded in 1899, is located in Kings Park, Western Australia. It was originally called the Mount Tennis Club and included two asphalt courts. Later, lawn tennis, bowls and croquet facilities were added. The members' pavilion was built in 1926 and the McGibbon stand built in 1935. Båstad () is a Urban areas in Sweden, locality and the seat of Båstad Municipality, Scania County, Sweden, with approximately 5,000 permanent residents.
