The 1983 Campeonato Nacional was Chilean football league top tier’s 51st season. Colo-Colo was the tournament’s champion, winning its fourteenth title. There was no relegation, in order to increase the number of teams for the next season. The Chilean Primera División (English: First Division) is the top-tier league of the Chilean football league system. It is organized by the ''Asociación Nacional de Fútbol Profesional, ANFP''. The league is known as the Campeonato AFP PlanVital for sponsorship reasons. Format As of the 2018 season, 16 teams compete in the league, playing against each other two times, home and away. Relegation and promotion Currently, the two teams with the worst scores in the season, are relegated to Primera B, and replaced by the Champions and Runners-up of this Division. Qualification for international competitions The champions of the Campeonato are immediately qualified to the Copa Libertadores for the next year, as well as the second and third place. Jorge Orlando Aravena Plaza
Jorge Orlando Aravena Plaza (born 22 April 1958) is a Chilean former footballer. A left-footed attacking midfielder or deep-lying forward, he played for several clubs in Latin America and Europe, including Club Deportivo Universidad Católica, Deportivo Cali and Puebla F.C. Today, Aravena is considered a major figure in the history of these clubs. In addition, Aravena has managed several clubs in Chile and Latin America. Jorge Luis Siviero (born 13 May 1952) is a former Uruguayan football player and coach. He has played for several clubs in Uruguay, Mexico and Chile during his playing career. He also coached almost ten Chilean clubs and two Venezuelan clubs during his managerial career. Club de Deportes Santiago Wanderers is a football club based in Valparaíso, a founding member of the Chilean Football Federation. Their home ground, Estadio Elías Figueroa Brander, is in the north-west of the city. Wanderers have played their games there since 1931 after moving from Barrio Puerto.
