1983 German Supercup
The 1983 German Supercup was an unofficial edition of the German Supercup, a football match contested by the winners of the previous season's Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal competitions. The match was played at the Olympiastadion in Munich, and contested by cup winners Bayern Munich and league champions Hamburger SV. Bayern won the match 4–2 on penalties, following a 1–1 draw (with no extra time played), to claim the unofficial title. Dieter Hoeneß
Dieter Hoeneß (born 7 January 1953) is a German former professional football player and executive. A forward in his playing career, Hoeneß was mainly associated with Bayern Munich. After retiring, he stayed connected with football, working extensively in directorial capacities for several clubs. Hoeneß represented West Germany at the 1986 World Cup. Club career Born in Ulm, West Germany, Hoeneß played from age six to fourteen as a goalkeeper on amateur level for VfB Ulm, which was co-founded by his father, the master butcher Erwin Hoeneß on 13 November 1949. Hans Pflügler
Johannes Christian "Hans" Pflügler (born 27 March 1960) is a German former professional footballer. He could operate as either a left-back or a central defender, and played solely for Bayern Munich, winning ten major titles and appearing in nearly 400 official games. Pflügler represented West Germany at the 1990 World Cup and Euro 1988, winning the former tournament. Club career Born in Freising, Pflügler made his professional debut in 1981–82 with the only club he ever knew, local FC Bayern Munich. After two experimental seasons he became first-choice, scoring a total of 27 Bundesliga goals from 1983 to 1988 and playing all the matches and minutes in the 1986–87 European Cup, as the team finally finished second to FC Porto. Wolfgang Kraus
Wolfgang Kraus (born 20 August 1953) is a former German football player. The son of the former Frankfurt footballer Willi 'Scheppe' Kraus (born 3 December 1926, died 1993) appeared in 326 Bundesliga matches for Eintracht Frankfurt and Bayern Munich and scored 47 goals. Mostly he was used in the midfield. After his active career he became in November 1986 sports director at Frankfurt but was fired in September 1988 after less than two years. Bertram Beierlorzer
Bertram Beierlorzer (born 31 May 1957 in Neunkirchen am Brand) is a German football coach and former player. As a player, he spent nine seasons in the Bundesliga with 1. FC Nürnberg, FC Bayern Munich and VfB Stuttgart. While at Bayern he won two league titles and three Cups, but an injury suffered in the 1982 DFB Cup Final caused him to miss Bayern's defeat in that year's European Cup final. Manfred Müller (footballer)
Manfred Müller (born 28 July 1947) is a German former footballer who played as a goalkeeper. Müller began his career with Schwarz-Weiß Essen, before moving to Wuppertaler SV in 1971. Wuppertal immediately earned promotion to the Bundesliga, and finished a surprising third in their first season in the top-flight. The title challenge was not to repeated, however, and the club struggled against relegation in 1973–74, and dropped down the following year. After Wuppertal's failure to bounce back in their first season, Müller left, moving south to in 1976 to join 1. FC Nürnberg. In his second season at Nürnberg, they won promotion, beating Rot-Weiss Essen in a playoff, only to be relegated the following year. Müller was on the move again, and after a brief spell at ESV Ingolstadt, moved on to Bayern Munich, ostensibly as cover for Walter Junghans. Jimmy Hartwig
William "Jimmy" Hartwig (born 5 October 1954) is a German former professional footballer who played as a defensive midfielder. He played for Kickers Offenbach, TSV 1860 Munich, Hamburger SV, 1. FC Köln and FC Homburg of the Bundesliga and for Austria Salzburg of Austria. The son of an African-American soldier and a German mother, Hartwig was one of the first black players in German and Austrian football. Hartwig won the European Cup in 1983 with Hamburger SV, and was three times German league champion in 1979, 1982 und 1983 and three times league runner-up with Hamburger SV. He also earned two caps for the West Germany national team, making him only the second non-white player (after Erwin Kostedde) to achieve this feat. Manfred Kaltz (born 6 January 1953) is a German former football player and manager, who played as a right-back. Kaltz played in the Bundesliga for Hamburger SV and 13 times (one goal) for FC Mulhouse in Ligue 1 after initially joining Mulhouse league rivals Girondins de Bordeaux 1989. He returned to Hamburg the season after, the consequence of the relegation of FC Mulhouse from Ligue 1 at the end of 1989–90.
