1982 PGA Tour Qualifying School Graduates
This is a list of the 1982 PGA Tour Qualifying School graduates. 50 players earned their 1983 PGA Tour card through Q-School in 1982. The tournament was played over 108 holes at the Tournament Players Club in Ponte Vedra, Florida. The top 30 players split the $50,000 purse, with the winner earning $9,000. PGA Tour
The PGA Tour (stylized in all capital letters as PGA TOUR by its officials) is the organizer of professional golf tours in the United States and North America. It organizes most of the events on the flagship annual series of tournaments also known as the PGA Tour, as well as PGA Tour Champions (age 50 and older) and the Korn Ferry Tour (for professional players who have not yet qualified to play on the PGA Tour), as well as PGA Tour Canada, PGA Tour Latinoamérica, and PGA Tour China. Richard Zokol
Richard Francis "Dick" Zokol (born August 21, 1958) is a Canadian professional golfer who has played on the Canadian Tour, PGA Tour and Nationwide Tour, winning at least one event in each venue. Amateur career Zokol was born in Kitimat, British Columbia. He attended Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, and was the captain of the 1981 NCAA championship golf team. He was also an All-American selection in 1981, on the Second Team. He was a teammate of future fellow PGA Tour players Rick Fehr, Keith Clearwater and Bobby Clampett; he was Clampett's roommate for three years. Larry Rinker
Larry Rinker (born July 20, 1957) is an American professional golfer. Rinker was born in Stuart, Florida. He played college golf at the University of Florida and turned professional in 1979. Rinker initially played on mini-tours before joining the PGA Tour in 1981, and regained his tour card via qualifying school for 1982, the first year of the all-exempt tour. His best year came in 1985, when he finished 30th on the money list. He never won on tour, but recorded two runners-up finishes, at the 1984 USF&G Classic and the 1985 Bing Crosby National Pro-Am. His best finish in a major was tied-12th at the 1992 Open Championship. He also finished tied-15th at the 1982 U. S. Lyn Lott
Clinton Lynwood Lott III (April 9, 1950 – March 22, 2018) was an American professional golfer. Lott was born in Douglas, Georgia. He won several amateur golf tournaments in Georgia including the Georgia State Junior Amateur, Georgia State Amateur, and Georgia Open, as a 17-year-old amateur. He played college golf at the University of Georgia where he was a two-time All-American. During his time at UGA, the team won four consecutive Southeastern Conference titles and Lott won two individual events. Lott played on the PGA Tour from 1974 to 1984. His best finishes were three third-place finishes: 3rd at the 1976 Canadian Open, T-3 at the 1977 Byron Nelson Golf Classic, and T-3 at the 1981 Greater Milwaukee Open. He twice finished in the top-10 in a major: T-7 at the 1977 U.S. Open and T-8 at the 1976 U.S. Open. Curt Byrum
Curt Allen Byrum (born December 28, 1958) is an American professional golfer who has played on the PGA Tour and the Nationwide Tour. He is the older brother of PGA Tour golfer Tom Byrum. Byrum was born and raised in Onida, South Dakota. He learned to play golf on a nine-hole course that he and brother Tom used to mow. He was an exceptionally talented athlete in high school in both football and basketball. Byrum attended the University of New Mexico and was a member of the golf team. He turned pro in 1982 and joined the PGA Tour in 1983. Byrum has spent time playing on the PGA Tour and the Nationwide Tour. The 1978 Masters Tournament was the 42nd Masters Tournament, held April 6–9 at Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia. Gary Player overcame a 7-shot deficit going into the final round to win his third Masters and ninth Men's major golf championships, major championship. Lindy Miller
Lindy Miller (born July 6, 1956) is an American professional golfer who has played on the PGA Tour, Ben Hogan Tour, and Champions Tour. Early life Miller was born, raised and has lived most of his life in Fort Worth, Texas. During his teens, he won the 1973 Fort Worth Junior Golf Association Championship. Amateur career Miller attended Oklahoma State University and was a distinguished member of the golf team — an All-American for all four years (1975–1978), a first-team All-American his last three years and winner of the Haskins Award in 1978. Miller's college teammates included future PGA Tour Champions David Edwards and Bob Tway. Miller and Edwards led the Cowboys to victory at the 1976 and 1978 NCAA Championships. Steve Hart (golfer)
Stephen Hart (13 February 1859 – 28 June 1880) was an Australian bushranger, a member of the Kelly Gang. Biography In 1877, Hart was convicted of horse theft and illegal use of a horse and sentenced to 12 months hard labour in HM Prison Beechworth. When he was released with the usual remission period he promised to work, and he kept his promise—seeing as he never specified where he would work. One of the Kelly brothers (most likely Dan, as he and Hart were friends and had likely met in gaol at some point) came to his property and asked him to help them pan for gold. This prompted Hart's most famous quote, "Here's to a short life and a merry one!" as he rode off to Bullock Creek to help the Kelly brothers and their friend Joe Byrne pan for gold. Mike Brannan
Michael Alan Brannan (December 27, 1955 – January 8, 2013) was an American golfer. Brannan was born in Salinas, California. He won the U.S. Junior Amateur in 1971, beating Robert Steele in the final, 4 and 3, to become the tournament's youngest champion, at 15 years, 8 months. His record stood for 20 years until broken by Tiger Woods in 1991 (15 years, 6 months). He also played on the winning 1977 Walker Cup team. He played college golf at Brigham Young University, where he was a four-time All-American, graduating in 1978. He was inducted into the BYU Hall of Fame in 1989. Brannan turned professional in 1978 and played on the PGA Tour from 1979 to 1983. His best finish on tour was second place at the 1979 Houston Open, two strokes behind Wayne Levi.
