1982 PBA Reinforced Filipino Conference Finals
The 1982 PBA Reinforced Filipino Conference Finals was the best-of-7 basketball championship series of the 1982 PBA Reinforced Filipino Conference, and the conclusion of the conference playoffs. This is the first championship series in the PBA that was contested in a best-of-seven format. The Toyota Super Corollas won against San Miguel Beermen in the finals series that went the full route of seven games. Toyota Super Corollas
The Toyota Super Corollas were a multi-titled basketball team in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) from 1975 PBA season, 1975 to 1983 PBA season, 1983. Founded in 1973 by businessman and sportsman Dante Silverio, the team - formally named Toyota Athletic Club - was owned by Delta Motors Corporation, Delta Motor Corporation (defunct) and played under various names - Komatsu Komets, Toyota Comets, Toyota Silver Tamaraws, Toyota Tamaraws, Toyota Superdiesels, Toyota Super Corollas and Toyota Silver Coronas. Ramon Fernandez
Ramon Sadaya Fernandez (; born October 3, 1953) is a Filipino former professional basketball player and current commissioner of the Philippine Sports Commission. Fernandez won four PBA Most Valuable Player awards and a record 19 PBA titles. Fernandez stood at 6'4 barefoot during his prime but due to mild gigantism grew to 6'5 during his final seasons. He scored 18,996 points to finish as the PBA's all-time scoring leader. He is also the PBA's all-time leader in rebounds, blocked shots, free throws made, playing minutes and second all-time in assists, games played and steals. He played for five teams in his entire PBA career starting with the Toyota, Manila Beer, Tanduay, Purefoods and San Miguel. Jose J. Cantada, better known as "Smokin'" Joe Cantada, (March 15, 1942 – March 22, 1992) was a Filipino TV host, anchor & commentator. He died of lung cancer in March 1992. He distinguished himself with his smooth baritone voice and his flawless use of figures of speech and idioms in calling sports events. Together with Pinggoy Pengson, Cantada was a senior anchorman for the '' Vintage Sports''' PBA coverage in the 1980s. He was previously a boxing and cycling commentator. Career Cantada started his career as a staff announcer doing an early morning program for a radio station in 1962. He then transferred to DZHP where he spent many years honing his talents with the likes of Harry Gasser, Ronnie Nathanielsz, Larry Cruz and others. Emilio "Jun" Bernardino, Jr. (November 9, 1947 – March 24, 2007) was the fifth commissioner of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). He was elected as commissioner of the league in 1994 and retired in 2002. He served as the commissioner of the Shakey's V-League and of the 2006-07 season of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (Philippines). Glenn McDonald
Glenn McDonald (born March 18, 1952) is an American retired professional basketball player. He played three seasons for the Boston Celtics and the Milwaukee Bucks before going overseas most notably in the Philippines, with the U/Tex Wranglers in the early-80's. He averaged 4.2 points in 146 games played in his NBA career. He played a huge role in Game 5 of the 1976 NBA Finals, scoring eight points in the third overtime period as the Celtics won 128-126 before eventually winning the championship in six games. After winning the title with Boston, McDonald was cut by the Celtics. He was later picked up by Don Nelson to play for the Milwaukee Bucks to replace an injured Fred Carter. McDonald was again cut after Carter was able to play, then was signed to play for Alvik BK in Sweden.
