1982 Meath Senior Football Championship
The 1982 Meath Senior Football Championship is the 90th edition of the Meath GAA's premier club Gaelic football tournament for senior graded teams in County Meath, Ireland. The tournament consists of 14 teams, with the winner going on to represent Meath in the Leinster Senior Club Football Championship. The championship starts with a group stage and then progresses to a knock out stage. Navan O'Mahonys were the defending champions after they defeated Skryne in the previous years final, however they lost their crown when losing to eventual champions Walterstown after a Semi-final replay. This was Ballivor's third period in the senior grade after claiming the 1981 Meath Intermediate Football Championship title. On 31 October 1982, Walterstown claimed their 3rd Senior Championship title, when defeating Summerhill 1-7 to 0-5 in Pairc Tailteann, Navan. Meath Senior Football Championship
The Meath Senior Football Championship is an annual Gaelic Athletic Association club competition between the top Gaelic football clubs in Meath, Ireland. Qualification for subsequent competitions The winners of the Meath Senior Football Championship winners qualify to represent their county in the Leinster Senior Club Football Championship and in turn, go on to the All-Ireland Senior Club Football Championship. Competition format From 2020, 16 teams compete in the championship, with four groups of four teams. The top two finishers in each group qualify for the quarter-finals. The bottom two teams in each group progress to the relegation playoffs. The overall loser in the relegation playoffs gets relegated to the Intermediate Division. Pairc Tailteann
Park ( gd, A' Phàirc), also known as South Lochs, is a huge area of land connected to the rest of Lewis only by a narrow neck between Loch Seaforth and Loch Erisort. This had a wall called ''Gàrradh an Tighearna'' (''"The Laird's Dyke"'') built across it by the Earl of Seaforth in the early 17th century, the outline of which can still be seen. Only the north of Park is now inhabited: settlements in the south were cleared by Sir James Matheson in the nineteenth century. A famous deer raid took place here in 1887 as a demonstration by starving people, commemorated by a broch resembling a cairn at the Eishken junction. Trim GAA
Trim GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in Trim, in County Meath, Ireland. The club fields both Gaelic football and hurling teams. It competes in Meath GAA competitions. Trim is known as the home of hurling in Meath and the Meath Senior Hurling Championship final was held there each year until the redevelopment of its facilities meant it was moved to Pairc Tailteann. 2011 Football Relegation Trim finished at the bottom of Group A, with 3 points from 5 games and point difference of -30, the lowest of any team that year. Nobber GFC is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in Nobber, County Meath, Ireland. The club competes in Meath GAA competitions. The club has won the Meath Senior Football Championship once when North Meath GAA (which consisted of a few clubs in North Meath including Nobber) won the title in 1950. In 1983, 1986, and 1989 Nobber reached the semi-final of the Senior championship. Seneschalstown GAA is a small rural Gaelic Athletic Association club from Beauparc/Kentstown parish in County Meath, founded in 1932. The club ground is situated about 6 miles east of Navan and 3 miles south of Slane. The club has a history in all levels of GAA football over the years and more recently with both its Senior Men and Ladies' teams. Skryne GFC is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in the Village of Skryne, in County Meath, Ireland. The club mainly plays Gaelic Football. It competes in Meath GAA competitions. Skryne has the second most Meath Senior Football Championship titles after Navan O Mahony's. Every All-Ireland Winning Meath team has had a Skryne player as a panel member. St Patrick's is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in the village of Stamullen, in Meath, Ireland. The club competes at Intermediate level in football and Junior level in hurling in Meath GAA competitions. The club was founded in January 1950 by the amalgamation Stamullen and Julianstown GAA clubs. The original clubs were mildly successful in senior football with Stamullen and Julianstown both winning a Senior Football Championship. With 20 Senior Football wins they are the most successful football club in Meath. Eamonn O'Brien (Gaelic Football Manager)
Eamonn O'Brien is former manager of Meath and one of Sean Boylan's former selectors. He was born in Walterstown, County Meath, Ireland on September 21, 1960. He managed the Meath Senior Gaelic football team between 2008 and 2010, leading them to one Leinster Senior Football Championship. Managerial career O'Brien was confirmed as Meath manager on 10 November 2008 after a meeting with the county board to succeed Colm Coyle. His team had a reasonably successful 2009 season, where they were defeated by Dublin in the Leinster quarter finals, but went through the qualifier system to reach the All-Ireland semi finals, where they were defeated by Kerry. In 2010, O'Brien's team comprehensively defeated Dublin in the Leinster Semi finals, and went on to win the Leinster final in controversial circumstances against Louth. Navan ( ; , meaning "the Cave") is the county town of County Meath, Republic of Ireland, Ireland.
