1981–82 Cypriot Third Division
The 1981–82 Cypriot Third Division was the 11th season of the Cypriot third-level football league. Digenis Akritas Ipsona won their 1st title. Format Fourteen teams participated in the 1981–82 Cypriot Third Division. All teams played against each other twice, once at their home and once away. The team with the most points at the end of the season crowned champions. The first two teams were promoted to 1982–83 Cypriot Second Division. The last two teams were relegated to regional leagues. Cypriot Third Division
The Cypriot Third Division (Greek: Πρωτάθλημα Γ΄ Κατηγορίας) is the third tier football league competition in Cyprus, run by the Cyprus Football Association. Each year, the top finishing teams of the league are promoted to the Cypriot Second Division, and the lowest finishing teams are relegated to the STOK Elite Division. History The Cypriot Third Division was held for the first time in the 1970–71 season as the third level of the Cypriot football. All the teams played against each other twice, once at their home and once away. The team with the most points at the end of the season crowned champions. ASIL Lysi
ASIL Lysi ( el, ΑΣΙΛ Λύσης) is a Cypriot football club which was established in the town of Lysi, Famagusta. After the Turkish invasion of Cyprus in 1974, ASIL became a refugee team and is temporarily based in Larnaca. The club plays in the Cypriot Third Division. History The club was founded in Lysi, Famagusta on June 26, 1932. Club founders were Ch. Fokaides, Ch. Panayides, K. Rousi and N. Petrou. The choice for the club's name is attributed to Demetris Lambrou. The club had its own stadium in Lysi. The stadium was called «Grigoris Afxentiou Stadium» as a memory of EOKA hero Grigoris Afxentiou who was born in Lysi and he was a player of ASIL. 1981–82 Cypriot Cup
The 1981–82 Cypriot Cup was the 40th edition of the Cypriot Cup. A total of 42 clubs entered the competition. It began on 31 March 1982 with the preliminary round and concluded on 5 June 1982 with the replay final which was held at Makario Stadium. Omonia won their 6th Cypriot Cup trophy after beating Apollon 4–1 in the final. Format In the 1981–82 Cypriot Cup, participated all the teams of the Cypriot First Division, the Cypriot Second Division and the Cypriot Third Division. The competition consisted of six knock-out rounds. In all rounds each tie was played as a single leg and was held at the home ground of the one of the two teams, according to the draw results. The last two teams were relegated to the 1982–83 Cypriot Second Division. The champions ensured their participation in the 1982–83 European Cup and the runners-up in the 1982–83 UEFA Cup. Phileleftheros
''O Phileleftheros'' ( el, Ὁ Φιλελεύθερος, meaning "The Liberal") is the largest newspaper (by circulation) in Cyprus, with about 26,000 copies daily (2002). Established in 1955, it is also the oldest Greek-language daily newspaper in circulation on the island. Other daily newspapers published in Cyprus include '' Politis,'' ''Simerini'', ''Haravgi'', and ''Alithia''. Over the years, ''Phileleftheros'' has expanded into a publishing company and has released several magazines (including the Cyprus editions of ''Cosmopolitan'' and ''Top Gear''), as well as recently launching its own radio station, Radio Sfera. ''I Simerini'' (English: The Daily) is a centre-right Greek language independently owned newspaper published in Cyprus since 1976. It is one of the largest newspapers on the island with a daily circulation of around 9,000 copies. Other daily Greek language newspapers (2013) published in Cyprus are ''Haravgi'', ''Phileleftheros'', and '' Politis''.
