Ugandan Super League
The Ugandan Premier League, also known as the StarTimes Uganda Premier League for sponsorship reasons, is the top division of the Federation of Uganda Football Associations. The league was previously known as the Uganda Super League but changed in the 2014–15 season after new management taking over. The league's roots date back to 1968 when the National First Division League was established. History Original concept The genesis of club football in Uganda was an idea copied from England by Balamaze Lwanga and Polycarp Kakooza. The objective was to improve Uganda's performances in the Africa Cup of Nations after disappointing results in the finals in 1962 (fourth-place finish) and 1968 (lost all three group stage matches), both held in Ethiopia. Davis Kamoga (footballer)
Davis Kamoga (born July 17, 1968) is a Ugandan athlete competing in 400 m. He won the bronze medal at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia. In 1997 he won the first Ugandan medal at the World Championships, a silver medal in the 1997 World Championships in Athens in a personal best time of 44.37 seconds. Kampala City Council FC
Kampala Capital City Authority Football Club (Abbreviated as KCCA FC) and also known as Kampala City , is a Ugandan football club based in Kampala, the largest city and capital of Uganda. Kampala City Council was rebranded to Kampala Capital City Authority and the club title has been changed accordingly. Many sources and news reports still refer to the club's traditional title, Kampala City Council Football Club, abbreviated as KCC. History The club was founded on 12 April 1963 by Samuel Wamala, who was head of the Council's Sewage Works section in the City Engineering Department. Maroons Football Club also known as Prisons Football Club, is a Ugandan football club from Kampala owned by Uganda Prisons Service, currently playing in the FUFA Big League. Playing as Prisons FC, the club won the first two editions of the Ugandan Premier League History Prisons FC won the first two Ugandan Super League titles in 1968 and 1969, and were the first team to represent Uganda in international competition in the 1970 African Cup of Champions Clubs (a Ugandan team, Bitumastic, qualified in 1967 but withdrew before playing a match.) Sports Club Villa is an association football club based in Uganda. Overview SC Villa had humble beginnings in 1975, playing under the name Nakivubo Boys. The club was renamed Nakivubo Villa in 1981. SC Villa won promotion to the top flight of Ugandan football in 1979 and is the most successful club in Ugandan football. They have won 16 Uganda Super League Titles, 9 Ugandan Cup Titles and 3 CECAFA Clubs Cup Titles. SC Villa was the first Ugandan club to clinch a local double in 1986. That record was extended to six "Doubles" in 2002. Kilembe Mines Football Club, abbreviated as Kilembe Mines FC, is a Ugandan football club located in Kilembe, Kasese in the Rwenzori Mountains. The club played in the Uganda National League throughout the 1970s. History Kilembe Mines FC currently plays in the Kasese District League Division One which is part of the fourth tier of the Ugandan football league system. The club is affiliated to the Kasese District Football Association which is within Zone 11 Kitara region ''(Tooro Sub Region)'' of the FUFA administrative areas. Kilembe Mines FC was supported financially by the Kilembe Mines Limited and became the first up-country club to play in Uganda’s top league, the National First Division League in 1969. Simba is a fictional character and the protagonist of Disney's ''The Lion King'' franchise.
