Anime
is Traditional animation, hand-drawn and computer animation, computer-generated animation originating from Japan. Outside of Japan and in English, ''anime'' refers specifically to animation produced in Japan. However, in Japan and in Japanese, (a term derived from a shortening of the English word ''animation'') describes all animated works, regardless of style or origin. Animation produced outside of Japan with similar style to Japanese animation is commonly referred to as anime-influenced animation. The earliest commercial Japanese animations date to 1917. Marine Express
is an anime television film created for the Nippon Television Network's annual 24-hour charity program, ''Ai wa Chikyū o Suku'', which roughly translates to "Love Saves the Earth". The movie contained a veritable "Who's Who" of Tezuka's notable characters. Each one had an important role, and many of them had individual, intertwining stories which would overlap with the ones of others. To coincide with the central theme of the charity program, the movie emphasized on the dangers of environmental destruction, and that such disasters can be overcome by banding together. For the previous charity special in 1978, Osamu Tezuka and Tezuka Productions created '' One Million-Year Trip: Bander Book''. Aim For The Ace!
''Aim for the Ace!'', known in Japan as , is a manga series written and illustrated by Sumika Yamamoto. The series tells the story of Hiromi Oka, a high school student who wants to become a professional tennis player as she struggles against mental weakness, anxiety and thwarted love. It was originally serialized in Shueisha's '' shōjo'' magazine ''Margaret'' from January 1973 to February 1980. Later, Shueisha collected the chapters and published them in 18 ''tankōbon'' volumes.
