1977–78 Arsenal F.C. Season
The 1977–78 season was Arsenal Football Club's 52nd consecutive season in the Football League First Division. It was Terry Neill's second season as manager. Arsenal finished fifth in the league. In cup play, Arsenal reached the semi-finals in the League Cup, losing to the previous season's league and European champions Liverpool. Arsenal were also in the finals of the FA Cup, the first of three consecutive FA Cup finals that Arsenal would reach under Neill. They lost 1-0 to Ipswich. In the transfer business, Pat Jennings joined the club from Tottenham Hotspur. He would go on to make over two-hundred appearances for Arsenal. Alan Sunderland joined Arsenal at centre forward where he would remain an important player for several seasons. Neill also brought in Don Howe as an assistant. Alan Hudson
Alan Anthony Hudson (born 21 June 1951) is an English former footballer who played for Arsenal, Chelsea, Stoke City and the Seattle Sounders as well as the England national football team. Roger Osborne
Roger Charles Osborne (born 9 March 1950) is a former professional association football, footballer who is best known for scoring the winning goal in the 1978 FA Cup Final. Biography Born in Otley, Suffolk, Otley, East Suffolk (county), East Suffolk in 1950, Osborne was signed by Ipswich Town F.C., Ipswich Town from Suffolk and Ipswich Football League, Suffolk & Ipswich League club Westerfield United in October 1970. He made his league debut on 27 October 1973 against Wolverhampton Wanderers at Portman Road, Ipswich Town winning 2–0. Bobby Robson
Sir Robert William Robson (18 February 1933 – 31 July 2009) was an English footballer and football manager. His career included periods playing for and later managing the England national team and being a UEFA Cup-winning manager at Ipswich Town. Robson's professional playing career as an inside forward spanned nearly 20 years, during which he played for three clubs: Fulham, West Bromwich Albion, and, briefly, Vancouver Royals. He also made 20 appearances for England, scoring four goals. Liam Brady
William Brady (born 13 February 1956) is an Irish former footballer. He found success both in England with Arsenal, where he won an FA Cup in 1979, and in Italy with Juventus, winning two Serie A titles. Brady was capped 72 times for the Ireland national team. Trevor Ross
Trevor William Ross (born 16 January 1957) is a former professional footballer who played as a midfielder. Ross played for English clubs Arsenal, Everton, Portsmouth, Sheffield United and Bury. He also featured for AEK Athens of the Greek First Division. Born in England, Ross represented Scotland at under-21 level. Career Ross started his career at Arsenal, joining the club's academy at 12 years old. In 1972 he became an apprentice at the club, signing professionally just two years later.
