1977 Metro Manila Film Festival
The 3rd Metro Manila Film Festival was held in the year 1977. Previously known as the Metropolitan Film Festival and Filipino Film Festival, it was changed to Metro Manila Film Festival. A total of nine movies directed by the Philippines' great filmmakers participated in the 1977 Metro Manila Film Festival. In this year, only two films were awarded. Ian Film Productions' '' Burlesk Queen'', the top grosser of the 10-day festival, romped away with most of the awards. It won seven major awards including the Best Film, Best Actress for Vilma Santos, Best Actor for Rolly Quizon, and more. Pera Films' ''Mga Bilanggong Birhen'' won two awards: Best Cinematography for Romy Vitug and Best Art Direction for Laida Lim-Perez. Edgar Sinco Romero, (July 7, 1924 – May 28, 2013), commonly known as Eddie Romero, was a Filipino film director, film producer and screenwriter. Early life Romero was born on July 7, 1924. His father was José E. Romero, the first Philippine Ambassador to the Court of St. James's. His mother was Pilar Guzman Sinco, a schoolteacher and the sister of University of the Philippines President Vicente G. Roland Dantes
Rolando Pintoy Dantes (June 15, 1940 – March 16, 2009) was an actor, champion bodybuilder and Filipino martial artist who trained with Remy Presas for over 30 years. He was born on June 15, 1940 in the Philippines. He has also trained with other martial arts masters, such as Cacoy Canete and Edgar Sulite. He worked several years as a police officer before becoming an actor. He is one of the best-known Philippine actors. Rafael Aranda Roco, Jr. (born November 20, 1953), popularly known as Bembol Roco, is a Filipino actor whose work ranges from films to television. Angelo Ylagan Castro Jr. (6 March 1945 – 5 April 2012) was a Filipino broadcast journalist and actor. He was a news anchor for ''The World Tonight'', the flagship news program of ABS-CBN and ANC.
