1977 IAAF World Race Walking Cup
The 1977 IAAF World Race Walking Cup was held in Milton Keynes, United Kingdom, on 24–25 September 1977. For the first time, a new competition name ''IAAF Race Walking World Cup'' was introduced replacing the former Lugano Trophy. As in 1975, there was a women's 5 km race held as invitation event. Mexico was dominant in the men's events, taking the team title and the top two spots in the 20 km and 50 km events through Daniel Bautista, Domingo Colín, Raúl González and Pedro Aroche. Sweden's Siv Gustavsson won the invitational women's event. Complete results were published. Medallists †: Invitation event. Maurizio Damilano (born 6 April 1957 in Scarnafigi, Italy) is an Italian former race walking, race walker. Bo Gustafsson
Bo Henning Gustafsson (born 29 September 1954) is a former Swedish athlete who mainly competed in the men's 50 kilometre walk during his career. Biography He competed for Sweden at the 1984 Summer Olympics held in Los Angeles, California, where he won the silver medal in the men's 50 kilometre walk event. Gustafsson was a Latter-day Saint. He was a convert to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints who had joined before he competed in the Olympics. Personal life Gustafsson was born in Strömstad, Sweden to Henning and Klara Gustafsson. He was married to Lis Herrey and they had four sons and one daughter together. Vladimir Golubnichiy
Volodymyr Stepanovych Holubnychy ( ua, Володимир Степанович Голубничий; also spelt Vladimir Golubnichy, 2 June 1936 – 16 August 2021) was a Soviet and Ukrainian race walker, who competed for the Soviet Union. Hartwig Gauder
Hartwig Gauder (10 November 1954 – 22 April 2020) was a German race walker who won a gold medal in the Men's 50 kilometres walk at the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow. Born in West Germany, his family moved to East Germany in 1960 when they inherited property at Ilmenau. Gauder thus competed for East Germany. In 1996 Gauder started suffering from a virus infection of his heart. After living with an artificial heart for several months, he received a heart transplant. He subsequently took part in the New York Marathon several times. Being classified as a disabled participant due to his transplant, he was once disqualified for being too fast as there was a minimum time, which he underran. His recovery from almost dying to returning into a normal life was covered in a documentary shown on German documentary channel Phoenix. Anatoliy Vasilyevich Solomin (russian: Анатолий Васильевич Соломин; born 2 July 1952) is a former Soviet Ukrainian race walker. Solomin competed in men's 20 km walk at the 1980 Summer Olympics and contended for the gold medal, but was disqualified from the lead shortly before the finish. He was European indoor champion in men's 5000 m walk in 1983 and briefly held the 20 km world best. He was born in Komarovka in Penza Oblast.
