1976–77 QMJHL Season
The 1976–77 QMJHL season was the eighth season in the history of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. The league renamed its divisions in honour of Robert Lebel and Frank Dilio, two lifetime contributors to ice hockey in Quebec. The East Division became the "Dilio Division" and the West Division became the "Lebel Division." Ten teams played 72 games each in the schedule. The Quebec Remparts finished first overall in the regular season to capture the Jean Rougeau Trophy. The Sherbrooke Castors won the President's Cup defeating the Quebec Remparts in the finals. Montreal Juniors
The Montreal Juniors were a junior ice hockey team in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League from 1975 to 1982. They played at the Montreal Forum in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. History The Montreal Bleu Blanc Rouge were renamed in 1975, becoming the Montreal Juniors. The most famous graduate from the team is Denis Savard. The team played for seven seasons as the Montreal Juniors before moving to Verdun. Robert Picard
Robert Rene Joseph Picard (born May 25, 1957) is a Canadian retired professional ice hockey player. Career Robert Picard established himself as a highly regarded defensive prospect with the Montreal Juniors and Montreal Bleu Blanc Rouge from 1973 to 1977. He was selected 3rd overall by the Washington Capitals in the 1977 NHL Entry Draft. In Washington, expectations were high due to the team's abysmal performance, and Picard was expected to single-handedly reverse the losing fortunes. Picard played well, but after three seasons of unrealistic expectations he was traded to Toronto in exchange for goaltender Mike Palmateer. Toronto management gave Picard little opportunity to show what he was capable of, sending him to his hometown Montreal Canadiens in exchange for Michel Larocque in March, 1981. Tim Bernhardt
Timothy John Bernhardt (born January 17, 1958) is a retired professional ice hockey goaltender who played 67 games in the National Hockey League with the Toronto Maple Leafs and Calgary Flames between 1982 and 1986. Playing career Bernhardt began his career with the Sarnia Junior Bees in 1974 and then with the Cornwall Royals of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League from 1975 to 1978. From 1978 to 1983 he played for several CHL teams (Tulsa Oilers, Birmingham Bulls, Oklahoma City Stars and the Colorado Flames). Prior to joining Calgary, Bernhardt played with the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League. Bernhardt played for Canada during the World Junior Championships in 1977–1978. Ronald Carter (born March 14, 1958) is a Canadian retired professional ice hockey right winger. Early life Carter was born in Montreal. He played junior ice hockey for the Sherbrooke Castors of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. Career Carter was drafted by the Montreal Canadiens in the second round of the 1978 NHL Entry Draft. Roland Cloutier (born October 6, 1957) is a Canadian former ice hockey centre who played 34 games in the National Hockey League with the Detroit Red Wings and Quebec Nordiques between 1978 and 1980. Joseph Lucien Jean Gonzague DeBlois (born June 21, 1957) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey right wing / centre. Career Born in Joliette, Quebec, DeBlois was selected in the 1977 NHL Entry Draft by the New York Rangers in the first round, eighth overall. He was chosen over Mike Bossy by Rangers' general manager John Ferguson, Sr. because "Bossy didn't check enough for the NHL." DeBlois was a top Canadian major junior player in the mid-seventies, where he tallied excellent numbers with the Sorel Black Hawks. Jere Alan Gillis (born January 18, 1957) is an American-born Canadian former professional ice hockey player, actor and stuntman.
