Portland Timbers (1975–82)
The Portland Timbers are an American professional men's soccer club based in Portland, Oregon. The Timbers compete in Major League Soccer (MLS) as a member club of the league's Western Conference. The Timbers have played their home games at Providence Park since 2011, when the team began play as an expansion team in the league. The club was founded in 2009, when the city of Portland was awarded an expansion berth to Major League Soccer. The team operating rights are owned by Peregrine Sports under the majority ownership of Merritt Paulson, whose companies had acquired the then-USL Pro team in 2007 and later established the Portland Thorns women's team in 2012 (all MLS franchises are centrally owned by the league itself, which grants operating rights and privileges to the individual club "owners," who are also shareholders in MLS). Pat McMahon (footballer, Born 1945)
Patrick "Pat" McMahon (born 19 September 1945) is a Scottish former footballer who is best known for the time he spent with Aston Villa and Celtic.http://www.croyhistorical.org.uk/football Kilsyth Rangers McMahon began his football career at local Scottish team Kilsyth Rangers. He moved to London, working for the GPO. In April 1967, Kilsyth Rangers sent him a telegram asking him to play for them in the Scottish Junior Cup final as last minute replacement for an injured player. The Dallas Tornado was a soccer team based in Dallas, Texas that played in the North American Soccer League (NASL) from 1967 to 1981. Of the twelve teams that comprised the U.S. in 1967, the Tornado franchise played the longest–15 seasons. Their home fields were Cotton Bowl (1967–1968), P.C. Overtime (sports)
Overtime or extra time is an additional period of play specified under the rules of a sport to bring a game to a decision and avoid declaring the match a tie or draw where the scores are the same. In some sports, this extra period is played only if the game is required to have a clear winner, as in single-elimination tournaments where only one team or players can advance to the next round or win the tournament. Vancouver Whitecaps Football Club is a Canadian professional Association football, soccer team based in Vancouver. The Minnesota Kicks were a professional soccer team that played at Metropolitan Stadium in the Minneapolis suburb of Bloomington, Minnesota, from 1976 to 1981. John Rogers (English Footballer)
John Charles Rogers (born 16 September 1950) is an English former footballer who played as a centre-forward. He moved from Burscough to Wigan Athletic, then competing in the Northern Premier League, in 1972. In four years with the club he scored 77 goals in 174 league appearances and helped them to win the league title; his performances earned him a move to Port Vale in October 1976, where he turned semi-professional. He refused to become a full-time professional, and instead was sold on to Altrincham in July 1977. He maintained an average goal ratio of a goal every two games in his time at Moss Lane, helping the club to two Alliance Premier League titles and triumph in the Cheshire Senior Cup, FA Trophy and Conference League Cup competitions. Ike MacKay (born August 2, 1948) is a Canadian former soccer forward. Club career A Nanaimo area product, MacKay graduated from Oak Bay High School. MacKay played four North American Soccer League seasons. He played for the Vancouver Royals in the league's inaugural season, 1968. Brian Tiler (15 March 1943 – 30 June 1990) was an English footballer. Tiler, a central defender, began his career at his home town club Rotherham United where he made his debut in 1962–63. He spent seven seasons at Millmoor, playing more than two hundred league games, before moving on to Aston Villa in December 1968. At Aston Villa, Tiler had the misfortune of being a member of the side that were relegated to the Third Division for the first and only time in the club's history in 1969–70.
