1975–76 Israeli League Cup
The 1975–76 Israeli League Cup ( he, גביע הליגה) was a cup competition played in the beginning of the 1975–76 season, while the national football team was involved in the 1976 Summer Olympics football tournament qualification. The cup was split into two competitions, for Liga Leumit and Liga Alef. The top tier's competition was played by clubs ranked 1st to 8th in 1974–75 Liga Leumit, while the second tier's competition was played by clubs ranked 1st and 4th in each of 1974–75 Liga Alef division. The competition was played as a knock-out competition. The Liga Leumit League Cup was won by Hapoel Hadera, who had beaten Hapoel Tel Aviv 1–0 in the final. The Liga Alef League Cup was won by Maccabi Ramat Amidar, who had beaten Maccabi Haifa 2–1 in the final. Hapoel Hadera F
Hapoel ( he, הפועל, lit. ''the worker'') is an Israeli Jewish sports association established in 1926 by the Histadrut Labor Federation. History During the Mandate for Palestine, British Mandate of Palestine period Hapoel had a bitter rivalry with Maccabi World Union, Maccabi and organized its own competitions, with the exception of Israel Football Association, football, the only sport in which all the organizations played each other. At the time, Hapoel took no part in the ''Eretz Israel Olympic Committee'', which was controlled by Maccabi, and instead sought for international ties with similar workers sports organizations of socialist parties. Therefore, Hapoel became a member of Socialist Workers' Sport International, SASI in 1927 and later was a member of CSIT. Menachem Ashkenazi
Menachem Ashkenazi ( he, מנחם אשכנזי) (6 August 1934 – 13 November 2000) was an Israeli international football referee, born in Bulgaria, active during the 1960s and 1970s. He was the first Asian referee who officiated in a World Cup. Biography Born in 1934 in a Jewish Sephardic family in Bulgaria, in 1936 he emigrated with his parents to Mandatory Palestine. Since his childhood he played soccer and distinguished himself at 16 as a player in the youth football team of the club Hapoel Petah Tikva. But following a severe fracture of his leg, he had to stop his career as a football player. Ashkenazi had a long career as a FIFA official, supervising international matches as a referee or linesman during the period from 1961 to 1986. He officiated in the final of the 1964 Olympic tournament (the only Israeli referee ever to do so) and also in the 1966 FIFA World Cup. Abraham Klein (referee)
Abraham Klein ( he, אברהם קליין, born 29 March 1934) is an Israeli former international football referee. He refereed international matches between 1965 and 1982, including the 1968 and 1976 Olympics and important matches at the Mexico 1970, Argentina 1978 and Spain 1982 World Cup Finals. He was also a linesman (now assistant referee) for the 1982 World Cup Final in Spain. 1970 World Cup Klein refereed some of the most important FIFA World Cup matches between 1970 and 1982. In his first World Cup tournament in 1970 he refereed the England v Brazil group C match at Guadalajara - the defender of the title from 1966 against the champion of 1962 and 1958 (and finally again world champion 1970).
