1971 Federation Cup (tennis)
The 1971 Federation Cup was the ninth edition of what is now known as the Fed Cup. 14 nations participated in the tournament, which was held at the Royal King's Park Tennis Club in Perth, Western Australia, from 26–29 December 1970. Australia defended their title, defeating Great Britain in the final, and winning the title without losing a rubber. Susan Butt
Dorcas Susan Butt (born March 19, 1938) is a Canadian sports psychologist and former tennis player. Raised in Victoria, British Columbia, Butt was the number one ranked Canadian player for three years and won a national championship in doubles. She won through to the singles third round of the 1961 Wimbledon Championships as a qualifier, before losing a centre court match to the top seeded Sandra Reynolds in 100 degree heat. In 1967 she made her playing debut for the Canada Federation Cup team and from 1970 to 1972 was the team captain. She is an inductee into both the Canada Tennis Hall of Fame (2000) and British Columbia Sports Hall of Fame (2023). Butt holds a PhD in psychology from the University of Chicago and was a professor of psychology at the University of British Columbia for many years. Sarah Virginia Wade (born 10 July 1945) is a British former professional tennis player. She won three Major tennis singles championships and four major doubles championships, and is the only British woman in history to have won titles at all four majors. Marilyn Lawrence (née Pryde; born 15 May 1952) is a former New Zealand professional tennis player. Daniela Porzio (6 June 1950–2 October 2017), also known by her married name Daniela Marzano, was a professional tennis player from Italy who was active in the 1970s. During her career she reached the second round in singles at all four Grand Slam tournaments. Lita Liem Sugiarto
Lita Liem Sugiarto (born 27 February 1946), sometimes known by her maiden name Lita Liem, a former Indonesian professional tennis player. She played at Grand Slam events between 1968 and 1975, in women's singles, women's doubles and mixed doubles. In women's doubles, she and partner Lany Kaligis reached two Grand Slam quarterfinals: the Australian Open in 1970 and Wimbledon in 1971. As such, she and Kaligis were among the first Indonesians to reach the later rounds of a Grand Slam competition. Kaligis was the only partner that Sugiarto ever played with in Grand Slam doubles competition. In singles, her best results were her third round exits from the Australian Championships in 1968, the Australian Open in 1970, Wimbledon in 1972 and the French Open in 1974.
