The 1970 Swedish speedway season was the 1970 season of motorcycle speedway in Sweden. Individual Individual Championship The 1970 Swedish Individual Speedway Championship final was held on 26 September in Stockholm. Ove Fundin won the Swedish Championship for the ninth time. Junior Championship Winner - Tommy Jansson Team Team Championship Kaparna won division 1 and were declared the winners of the Swedish Speedway Team Championship for the second time. The team included Ove Fundin, Göte Nordin and Bengt Jansson Bysarna won the second division, while Filbyterna and Vikingarna won the third division east and west respectively. The 1969 Swedish speedway season was the 1969 season of motorcycle speedway in Sweden. Individual Individual Championship The 1969 Swedish Individual Speedway Championship final was held on 18 September in Gothenburg. Ove Fundin won the Swedish Championship for the eighth time. Junior Championship Karl Erik Claesson won the Junior Championship. Team Team Championship Getingarna won division 1 and were declared the winners of the Swedish Speedway Team Championship for the seventh time (and sixth time in the last seven years). The Getingarna team included Anders Michanek, Bengt Jansson and Leif Enecrona . Örnarna won the second division, while Bysarna and Eldarna won the third division east and west respectively. Bengt Larsson (speedway Rider)
Bengt Larsson (born 25 December 1946) is a former motorcycle speedway rider from Sweden. He was capped 26 times by the Sweden national speedway team. Career Larsson started racing in the British leagues during the 1967 British League season, when riding for the Sheffield Tigers and he made an immediate impact by topping the team's averages in his first season in Britain. He would remain with Sheffield throughout his entire British career, with his last season being the 1976 British League season. Vikingarna (speedway)
Vikingarna () are a Swedish motorcycle speedway team based at the Örebro Motorstadion, 9 km west of Örebro, near Örebro Airport in Sweden. Season summary History 1950 to 1954 The beginning of competitive league speedway in Örebro can be traced back to the 1950 Swedish speedway season. A club called Vikingarna finished last out of four teams in the second division. However, the following season in 1951, was much improved to the degree that the team actually won the six team division. The team competed in the highest tier for the first time during the 1952 Swedish speedway season (called division 1 at the time) but struggled in the division and were eventually relegated. A young Göte Nordin rode for the club from 1952 to 1954 and he helped them win division 2 again in 1953. Bysarna
Bysarna were a Swedish motorcycle speedway team based at the Gamla Speedway Track, in Galgberget, north of Visby on the island of Gotland in Sweden. They were four times league champions of Sweden. Season summary History 1921 to 1951 The beginning of speedway in Visby can be traced back to November 1921 when the Gotland Motor Association was formed. Eight years later in 1929 the Gotland Motorcycle Club were riding dirt track races. A meeting was held at Gutavallen on 23 October and several other meetings took place at various venues before the war. After the war a suitable piece of land was acquired in Galgberget and the track was completed in 1951. 1967 to 1977 Although a track existed in Visby there was no team until 1967, when a team called Bysarna entered Division 3 east, during the 1967 Swedish speedway season. Bengt Jansson
Bengt Gustaf Jansson (born 9 January 1943 in Stockholm, Sweden) is a former Swedish international speedway rider. "Banger" was runner up in the 1967 World Final to fellow countryman Ove Fundin after losing a race-off and finished third in 1971, again after a run-off. He rode in Britain for West Ham Hammers, Edinburgh Monarchs, Hackney Hawks, Reading Racers, and finally the Birmingham Brummies. Kaparna were a Swedish motorcycle speedway team that competed in the Swedish speedway leagues from 1949 to 2007. The team were last based at the Arendal Speedway Track, in Arendal, west of Gothenburg on the island of at Hisingen in Sweden. They were four times Swedish Speedway Team Championship, league champions of Sweden. Season summary History 1934 to 1957 A speedway track called the Sävedalsbanan was constructed to the east of Gothenburg in 1934. Before World War II it held meetings consisting of individual competition. In 1949, a team called GEMA Goteborg (Gothenburg Motor Alliance) joined the relatively new Swedish Speedway Team Championship that had been inaugurated the previous season. The Swedish Speedway Team Championship is the team championship of speedway in Sweden. Season by season History The Championship was introduced in 1950. In 1982 the Championship was renamed with a new league called the Elitserien being introduced. previously the highest league had been known as the Allsvenskan but since 1982 it has been the second tier of Swedish speedway. Tommy Jansson
Per Tommy Jansson (2 October 1952 – 20 May 1976) was a motorcycle speedway rider. He was one of Sweden's most exciting speedway prospects in the 1970s but was killed in the Swedish Final a World Championship Qualifying Round meeting. He was the son of former Swedish International speedway rider Joel Jansson. His brother Bo (Bosse) Jansson was also a speedway rider. Speedway career Jansson initially appeared in the UK on 23 July 1970 while touring with the Young Sweden team in a British League Division Two test series against Young England. He rode at Teesside, scoring 10 points. He was injured in the second test match, at Workington, the following night, and he returned to Sweden. He came to England in 1971 to ride for the Wembley Lions making his debut on 9 April, in an away match against Wolverhampton, where he scored 6 points.
