1970 Meath Senior Football Championship
The 1970 Meath Senior Football Championship is the 78th edition of the Meath GAA's premier club Gaelic football tournament for senior graded teams in County Meath, Ireland. The tournament consists of 14 teams, with the winner going on to represent Meath in the Leinster Senior Club Football Championship. The championship starts with a group stage and then progresses to a knock out stage. This season saw Drumree's return to the top flight after claiming the 1969 Meath Intermediate Football Championship title. Kilbride were the defending champions after they defeated Skryne in the previous years final, and they successfully defended their title to claim a 2-in-a-row of titles and their 3rd in 4 seasons when defeating Navan O'Mahonys 0-9 to 0-7 in the final in Pairc Tailteann. Meath Senior Football Championship
The Meath Senior Football Championship is an annual Gaelic Athletic Association club competition between the top Gaelic football clubs in Meath, Ireland. Qualification for subsequent competitions The winners of the Meath Senior Football Championship winners qualify to represent their county in the Leinster Senior Club Football Championship and in turn, go on to the All-Ireland Senior Club Football Championship. Competition format From 2020, 16 teams compete in the championship, with four groups of four teams. The top two finishers in each group qualify for the quarter-finals. The bottom two teams in each group progress to the relegation playoffs. The overall loser in the relegation playoffs gets relegated to the Intermediate Division. 1970 Meath Intermediate Football Championship
The 1970 Meath Intermediate Football Championship is the 44th edition of the Meath GAA's premier club Gaelic football tournament for intermediate graded teams in County Meath, Ireland. The tournament consists of 22 teams. The championship starts with a group stage and then progresses to a knock out stage. No team was relegated from the S.F.C. the previous year. Martinstown and Star of the Sea were promoted after claiming the 1969 Meath Junior Football Championship title and Junior 'A' Divisional runners-up spot respectively. Garryowen were also promoted from the J.A.F.C. On 29 November 1970, Dunderry claimed their 3rd Intermediate championship title when they defeated Flathouse 2-9 to 1-3 in the final in Pairc Tailteann, and thus returned the top flight of Meath club football. Seneschalstown GAA is a small rural Gaelic Athletic Association club from Beauparc/Kentstown parish in County Meath, founded in 1932. The club ground is situated about 6 miles east of Navan and 3 miles south of Slane. The club has a history in all levels of GAA football over the years and more recently with both its Senior Men and Ladies' teams. Walterstown GFC is a Gaelic Athletic Association football club based in & around the town of Navan, in County Meath, Ireland. The club plays Gaelic Football competing in Meath GAA & Leinster competitions. The club has a proud tradition having won the Meath Senior Football Championship five times & the Leinster Senior Club championship twice. History Walterstown GFC was founded in 1902 and one of the first mentions of the club was when they entered a Dunshaughlin tournament in aid of the parochial house. Skryne GFC is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in the Village of Skryne, in County Meath, Ireland. The club mainly plays Gaelic Football. It competes in Meath GAA competitions. Skryne has the second most Meath Senior Football Championship titles after Navan O Mahony's. Every All-Ireland Winning Meath team has had a Skryne player as a panel member. Skryne have never been relegated from Senior level in the football championship. 2010 season Skryne finished second in the Senior Football Championship Group B. Trim GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in Trim, in County Meath, Ireland. The club fields both Gaelic football and hurling teams. It competes in Meath GAA competitions. Trim is known as the home of hurling in Meath and the Meath Senior Hurling Championship final was held there each year until the redevelopment of its facilities meant it was moved to Pairc Tailteann. 2011 Football Relegation Trim finished at the bottom of Group A, with 3 points from 5 games and point difference of -30, the lowest of any team that year. St Patrick's is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in the village of Stamullen, in Meath, Ireland. The club competes at Intermediate level in football and Junior level in hurling in Meath GAA competitions. The club was founded in January 1950 by the amalgamation Stamullen and Julianstown GAA clubs. The original clubs were mildly successful in senior football with Stamullen and Julianstown both winning a Senior Football Championship. Navan O'Mahony's is a Gaelic Athletic Association club located in the town of Navan in County Meath, Ireland. The club competes in Meath competitions. With 20 Senior Football wins they are the most successful football club in Meath. The club has also won 2 Senior Hurling Championships placing them in the top 15 most successful hurling sides in the county. History The idea of forming a new Gaelic football club in Navan was first mooted during a late evening discussion at the house of the late Peter Hughes, Rathaldron, Navan, with co-founders, the late Eddie Duignan and Jack Callaghan spearheading the move. Pairc Tailteann
Park ( gd, A' Phàirc), also known as South Lochs, is a huge area of land connected to the rest of Lewis only by a narrow neck between Loch Seaforth and Loch Erisort. This had a wall called ''Gàrradh an Tighearna'' (''"The Laird's Dyke"'') built across it by the Earl of Seaforth in the early 17th century, the outline of which can still be seen. Only the north of Park is now inhabited: settlements in the south were cleared by Sir James Matheson in the nineteenth century. A famous deer raid took place here in 1887 as a demonstration by starving people, commemorated by a broch resembling a cairn at the Eishken junction. The tournament consists of 22 teams. The championship starts with a group stage and then progresses to a knock out stage. Kilmainhamwood were regraded from the S.F.C. the previous year. This year marked St. Mary's first year in existence as a result of the amalgamation of Junior 'A' clubs Donore and Lougher. Flathouse and Moylagh were promoted after claiming the 1968 Meath Junior Football Championship title and Junior 'A' Divisional runners-up spot respectively. Gibbstown were also promoted after winning the Junior 'B' (known then as Division II) Championship and losing to Flathouse in the subsequent county Junior final.
