1968 Winter Olympics Medal Table
The 1968 Winter Olympics, officially known as the X Olympic Winter Games, was a winter multi-sport event held in Grenoble, France, from 6 to 18 February 1968. A total of 1,158 athletes representing 37 National Olympic Committees (NOCs)—including Morocco's first delegation—participated in 35 events from 10 different sports and disciplines. The team relay (4 × 7.5 km) event in biathlon was contested for the first time. Fifteen NOCs won at least one medal, and thirteen of them secured at least one gold. For the first time, after three consecutive editions of the Winter Olympics, the Soviet Union did not finish first in the overall and gold medal counts. Having won a total of thirteen medals, of which five were gold, they came second to Norway, whose athletes took home fourteen medals (six golds, six silvers, and two bronzes). Ski jumping at the 1968 Winter Olympics consisted of two events held from 11 to 18 February, with the large hill event taking place at Saint-Nizier-du-Moucherotte, and the normal hill event at Autrans. Nordic combined at the 1968 Winter Olympics consisted of one event, held from 10 February to 12 February at Autrans. Franz Keller (skier)
Franz Keller (; born 19 January 1945) was a West German nordic combined skier. At the 1968 Winter Olympics in Grenoble, he won the gold medal in the individual event. Keller also won a silver at the 1966 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in the individual event and won the event at the Holmenkollen ski festival in 1967. Keller received the Holmenkollen medal in 1973 (shared with Einar Bergsland and Ingolf Mork Ingolf Mork (4 June 1947 – 1 February 2012) was a Norwegian ski jumper who was born in Molde, and represented IL Hjelset-Fram and SFK Lyn in Oslo. Klaus-Michael Bonsack
Klaus Bonsack (born 26 December 1941), also known as Klaus-Michael Bonsack, is an East German former luger who competed during the 1960s and early 1970s. He was born in Waltershausen, Thuringia. He won four Winter Olympic medal in men's luge with one gold (doubles: 1968), one silver (singles: 1964), and two bronzes (singles: 1968, doubles: 1972). Bonsack also won five medals at the FIL World Luge Championships with one gold (doubles: 1967), two silvers (doubles: 1965, singles: 1967), and two bronzes (singles: 1963, doubles: 1969). Bonsack later served as chairman of the track construction commission, approving the final homologation of Cesana Pariol prior to the 2006 Winter Olympics for luge to compete at the track.
