1968 National Soccer League Season
The 1968 National Soccer League season was the forty-fifth season under the National Soccer League (NSL) name. The season began in late May and concluded in early October with Sudbury Italia securing the double (regular-season title, and NSL Championship). Sudbury finished first in the standings with 29 points with a single-point difference between Toronto Hellas. Italia would face Toronto Hellas once more in the NSL Championship final. The league would serve as a secondary league in the Canadian soccer landscape as the American-based North American Soccer League expanded into British Columbia and Ontario. Overview The membership in the league decreased to ten teams with Hamilton Primos, and Toronto Roma disbanding their teams. The 1967 National Soccer League season was the forty-fourth season under the National Soccer League (NSL) name. The season began in early May and concluded in early November with Windsor Teutonia successfully defending the O’Keefe Trophy (NSL Championship) against Hamilton Primos. The regular-season title was clinched by Hamilton Primos by finishing first throughout the regular season. The NSL merged with its competitor the Eastern Canada Professional Soccer League (ECPSL) in December 1966, which elevated the status of the NSL in the Canadian soccer landscape to a secondary league behind the American-based National Professional Soccer League, and the United Soccer Association. Serbian White Eagles FC
Serbian White Eagles Football Club ( sr, Фудбалски клуб Српски бели орлови / ''Fudbalski klub Srpski beli orlovi'') is a Canadian soccer team. The team is a member of the Canadian Soccer League, an unsanctioned soccer league. The team's home kit is all white commemorating the white double-headed eagle which appears on the Serbian flag while the away colours are red-blue-white commemorating the tricolour of the Serbian flag. The colour white was also chosen as it symbolizes purity and innocence. The club also has teams in the Canadian Soccer League Reserve Division and the Ontario Soccer League. Ostap Steckiw ( ua, Остап Стецьків) (March 14, 1924 – April 13, 2001) was a Canadian soccer player who earned 1 cap for the Canadian national side against the United States in 1957, scoring one goal. During World War II he was a member of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army. He was awarded the UPA Golden Cross. Career He played club football for ST Ukraina Lviv, Phönix Karlsruhe, Charleroi, Nice, Valenciennes, Lyon, Toronto Ukrainians, and Rochester Ukrainians.
