Sandown Raceway
Sandown International Raceway is a motor racing circuit in the suburb of Springvale in Melbourne, Victoria, approximately south east of the city centre. Sandown is considered a power circuit with its " drag strip" front and back straights being and long respectively. History Sandown Racecourse was first built as a horse racing facility, dating back into the 19th century, but closed in the 1930s in a government run rationalisation program. Redevelopment began not long after World War II. A bitumen motor racing circuit was built around the outside of the proposed horse track (which was not completed until 1965) and was first opened in 1962 and held the race which became the Sandown 500 for the first time in 1964. Fiat 125
The Fiat 125 is a large family car manufactured and marketed by Italian company Fiat from 1967 to 1972. Derivatives were built under license outside Italy until the 1990s. As launched the car was unusual in blending saloon car passenger accommodation with sports car performance, a combination which would be more widely adopted by the European volume auto-makers in the decade ahead. The Renault 8 (Renault R8 until 1964) and Renault 10 are two rear-engined, rear-wheel drive small family cars produced by the French manufacturer Renault in the 1960s and early 1970s. John Roxburgh (racing Driver)
John Roxburgh, (25 April 1932 – 2 August 1993) was an Australian racing driver, and motor sports administrator. Roxburgh's career was highlighted by taking victory in the original 1960 Armstrong 500 (known later as the Bathurst 1000), co-driving a Vauxhall Cresta with Frank Coad. Roxburgh continued to race touring cars well into the 1970s, most notably racing for the factory supported Nissan Motors, Datsun Racing Team. The Ford Cortina is a medium-sized family car that was built initially by Ford of Britain, and then Ford of Europe in various guises from 1962 to 1982, and was the United Kingdom's best-selling car of the 1970s. The Cortina was produced in five generations (Mark I through to Mark V, although officially the last one was only the Cortina 80 facelift of the Mk IV) from 1962 until 1982. Datsun 510
The Datsun 510 was a series of the Datsun Bluebird sold from 1968 to 1973, and offered outside the U.S. and Canada as the Datsun 1600. The 510's engineering was inspired by contemporary European sedans, particularly the 1966 BMW 1600-2 — incorporating an overhead camshaft engine and four-wheel independent suspension by means of MacPherson struts in front, and semi-trailing arms on the rear wheels. The styling is attributed to Datsun in-house designer, Teruo Uchino. The engine was promoted by Nissan USA president Yutaka Katayama, a design developed through Prince, an acquisition. Hillman Gazelle
The Hillman Gazelle is an automobile which was produced by Chrysler Australia from 1966 to 1967. Based on the British Singer Gazelle Series VI, the Hillman Gazelle was offered only as a four-door sedan and was essentially an upmarket version of the Hillman Minx VI. It was powered by a four-cylinder engine producing net, more than the Minx thanks to its aluminium cylinder head and twin-barreled Solex carburettor.
