Czechoslovak First League
The Czechoslovak First League ( cs, 1. fotbalová liga, sk, 1. futbalová liga) was the premier football league in the Czechoslovakia from 1925 to 1993, with the exception of World War II. Czechoslovakia was occupied by German forces who formed Gauliga Sudetenland and Gauliga Böhmen und Mähren leagues on occupied territories. Until the 1934-35 season, no teams from Slovakia participated in the league. Czechs were allowed to run their own league in the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia, while Slovaks were granted their own independent Slovak State and created their own league. After the World War II the league was recreated. Description The league was dominated by clubs from Prague with Sparta Prague winning 19 titles, Dukla Prague 11 and Slavia Prague 9. The attendance record for the league was set on 4 September 1965, when 50,105 spectators attended a match between rivals Sparta and Slavia in Prague. Vojtech Masný (born 8 July 1938) is a former Slovak football player. In Czechoslovak First League he appeared in 243 league matches and scored 71 goals. He played 9 matches and scored 3 goals for Czechoslovakia national football team. Masný also participated in the 1964 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, where Czechoslovakia won the silver medals. František Valošek (12 July 1937 – 31 July 2023) was a Czech football player who competed in the 1964 Summer Olympics. He was born in Frýdek-Místek, and played club football in the 1950s and '60s for Baník Ostrava, for whom he scored 54 goals in 150 appearances. Tomáš Pospíchal (26 June 1936 in Pudlov - 21 October 2003 in Prague) was a Czechs, Czech football player. Pospíchal played for several clubs, including TJ Vítkovice (1952–1955), Baník Ostrava (1957–1964), AC Sparta Prague, Sparta Prague (1964–1968) and FC Rouen (1968–1971). He played for Czechoslovakia national football team, Czechoslovakia national team (26 matches and 8 goals), and was a participant at the 1962 FIFA World Cup, where he played in the last three matches. After ending his career as a player he started coaching. Pospíchal coached several top Czech clubs, including Baník Ostrava (1972–1975), Bohemians 1905, Bohemians Praha (1977–1987) and SK Slavia Prague, Slavia Prague (1987–1988). Adolf Scherer
Adolf Scherer (born 5 May 1938) is a Slovak footballer who played as a striker. He is of Carpathian German descent. He played 36 games and scored 22 goals for the Czechoslovakia national team. Scherer represented Czechoslovakia at the 1960 European Nations' Cup and 1958 FIFA World Cup, where he did not play any match. In the 1962 FIFA World Cup, he again played for the Czechoslovak national team - where he proved himself to be a valuable player. They made it to the final match against Brazil, and Scherer assisted Josef Masopust in Czechoslovakia’s first and only goal of the game. Brazil ultimately won the match, subsequently scoring three more. Throughout the tournament, Scherer scored a total of three goals - including a winning goal in the quarterfinal against Hungary and a late goal against Yugoslavia in the semifinal. In 1973, Scherer emigrated from Czechoslovakia to France, where he played for French football club Olympique Avignonais until his retirement in 1975. ... TTS Trenčín
TTS Trenčín was a Slovak football club, playing in the town of Trenčín. History The club was founded in 1904 as Trencsény Torna Egyesület (TTE). TTS Trenčín first played in the top flight of Slovakia during World War II, when Slovak and Czech competitions were separated. During the sixties the team returned to the top flight, under new name Jednota Trenčín. The best place was in 1963 when the club became second after Dukla Prague. In 1966 and 1968 the team participated in the Mitropa Cup. In 1972 the club was relegated. After three seasons Jednota returned and played in the top flight until 1980. After this the team could never return and was even relegated to the third level in 1981. However Jednota was promoted immediately and changed the name back to TTS. In 1985 TTS was relegated to the third level and did not manage to come back. During the last Czechoslovak season in 1992/93 the team ended one place above newly founded Ozeta Dukla Trenčin.
