1962 Swedish Speedway Season
The 1962 Swedish speedway season was the 15th season of motorcycle speedway in Sweden. Individual Swedish Individual Speedway Championship, Individual Championship The 1962 Swedish Individual Speedway Championship final was held on 21 September in Gothenburg. Ove Fundin won the Swedish Championship for the fourth time. Swedish Junior Speedway Championship, Swedish Junior Championship Winner - Stan Karlsson Team Swedish Speedway Team Championship, Team Championship Dackarna won division 1 and were declared the winners of the Swedish Speedway Team Championship for the fourth time. The Dackarna team included Rune Sörmander, Per-Tage Svensson and Åke Andersson (speedway rider), Åke Andersson. The league system changed from two regional second divisions to a second and third division. Getingarna won the second division and Gamarna won the third division. 1961 Swedish Speedway Season
The 1961 Swedish speedway season was the 1961 season of motorcycle speedway in Sweden. Individual Individual Championship The 1961 Swedish Individual Speedway Championship final was held on 22 September in Stockholm. Björn Knutson won the Swedish Championship. Swedish Junior Championship Winner - Willihard Thomsson Team Team Championship Vargarna won division 1 and were declared the winners of the Swedish Speedway Team Championship for the sixth time. The Vargarna team contained Björn Knutson, Joel Jansson, Sören Sjösten and Per-Tage Svensson. With 14 teams lining up for the 1961 season the second division was split into a north and south competition. Folkare won the second division north and Kaparna B won the second division south. Älgarna changed their name to Gävle. Olle Nygren
Harald Olof "Olle" Ingemar Nygren (11 November 1929 – 13 February 2021) was a Swedish speedway rider who reached the finals of the Speedway World Championship five times. Nygren was Swedish Champion in 1949 and became Nordic Champion in 1960. After retirement, Nygren set up a successful speedway training school. Nygren lived in England from the 1960s. He died in Ipswich at the age of 91, after contracting COVID-19; he had previously been treated for laryngeal cancer. Masarna
Masarna are a Swedish motorcycle speedway team based in Avesta, Sweden. The club was founded in 1937 as the ''Folkare Motorklubb'' but their first track was not built until 1948. Masarna joined the Swedish second division in 1958 and remained there until gaining promotion to the Elitserien in 1999. They then won their first Elitserien championship in 2000. Elit Vetlanda Speedway
Vetlanda Speedway were a motorcycle speedway team based in Vetlanda, Sweden. Earlier known as Njudungarna and VMS Elit, the club was formed in 1946, and arranged their first meeting three years later. In 2003 when the club was promoted to the top division of Swedish speedway league, the Elitserien Elitserien (literally, "the Elite League") is the name of several Swedish nationwide sport leagues. Vargarna
Vargarna are a Swedish motorcycle speedway team based in Norrköping, Sweden. The team race at the Norrköpings Motorstadion. History The name Vargarna literally translates into English as "The Wolves". The team won the Swedish Speedway Team Championship five times 1949, 1951, 1953, 1954, 1960 and 1961. In recent years the club has moved up and down leagues from the Elitserien to the second tier of Swedish speedway, the Allsvenskan (National League). During the 2022 Swedish Speedway season the club reached the Allsvenskan play off final. Perhaps the club's most notable rider in recent years was the former world champion Nicki Pedersen, who signed for the team in 2010. Monarkerna
Hammarby IF Speedway was a Swedish motorcycle speedway team based in Stockholm, Sweden. The club has not been competing in the domestic leagues since 2016, after their home ground Gubbängens IP was demolished. Their biggest success was winning the bronze medal in Elitserien (speedway), Elitserien in 2007. Dackarna
Dackarna is a speedway club from MÃ¥lilla in Sweden who compete in the Swedish Elitserien. Their home track is at the Skrotfrag Arena which has been used as the venue for the Grand Prix of Scandinavia since 2005. History The team was founded in May 1935 as MÃ¥lilla Motorklubb and in 1949 renamed itself Dackarna (in honour of Nils Dacke) and the club began league racing. Dackarna raced in the highest level of league racing in Sweden between 1951 and 1965, winning the league championship in 1957, 1958, 1959, and 1962, and finished as runners-up in 1956 and 1964. Dackarna switched between the first and second league for the next 30 years until 1997 when the team received the backing of a major new sponsor (Svelux) and were renamed Team Svelux. Svelux were taken over by Luxo in 2002 and the team name was changed to Luxo Stars. In 2006 the sponsorship deal expired and the team name reverted to Dackarna. The Swedish Speedway Team Championship is the team championship of speedway in Sweden. Season by season History The Championship was introduced in 1950. In 1982 the Championship was renamed with a new league called the Elitserien being introduced. previously the highest league had been known as the Allsvenskan but since 1982 it has been the second tier of Swedish speedway.
