1962 Brussels Grand Prix
The 1962 Brussels Grand Prix was a motor race run for cars complying with Formula One rules, held on 1 April 1962 at Heysel Park, Belgium. The race was run in three heats of 22 laps each and the results were aggregated. The race was won by Belgian driver Willy Mairesse in a Ferrari 156. The course was somewhat altered over previous years, as part of the area that had held spectators was now in commercial use. This was the debut for BRM's new V8 engine, as well as the first race for the upgraded Coventry-Climax V8 used in Jim Clark's Lotus. The Heysel Plateau (french: Plateau du Heysel, nl, Heizelplateau) or Heysel Park (french: Parc du Heysel, links=no, nl, Heizelpark, links=no), usually shortened to Heysel () or Heizel (), is a neighbourhood, park and exhibition space in Laeken, northern Brussels, Belgium, where the Brussels International Exposition of 1935 and the 1958 Brussels World's Fair (Expo '58) took place. Tony Marsh (racing Driver)
Anthony Ernest "Tony" Marsh (20 July 1931 – 7 May 2009) was a British racing driver from England. His Formula One career was short and unsuccessful, but he enjoyed great success in hillclimbing, winning the British Hill Climb Championship on a record six occasions. Having begun his hillclimbing career in 1953 with a Cooper-JAP that had previously been driven by Peter Collins, Obituary (14 May 2009). Lotus 21
The Lotus 21 was a Formula One racing car designed by Colin Chapman. It was a mid-engined design using a tubular spaceframe structure skinned with fibreglass panels, of a more advanced build than seen in the Lotus 18. Powered by the 1.5-litre Coventry Climax FPF 4-cylinder engine, it used disc brakes all round. Trevor Taylor (racing Driver)
Trevor Taylor (26 December 1936 – 27 September 2010) was a British motor racing driver from England. Early career Trevor Taylor was born in Sheffield, the son of a garage owner from Rotherham. He began his racing career in Formula Three racing, initially in a Staride and later a Cooper-Norton. Ten victories in 1958 earned him the British Formula Three Championship. After a frustrating year in 1959 spent with his own Formula Two Cooper, he received an invitation to run his Lotus 18 as a second works car for 1960. He finished equal first in the Formula Junior championship with Jim Clark, although he competed in two more races that counted towards the championship than Clark who was already driving regularly for Team Lotus in Formula One. Gilby Engineering
Gilby Engineering was a British general engineering company owned by Syd Greene. Greene had lost an arm in a bicycle accident at 16 but went on to compete in many UK speed trials very successfully in the early 1950s. After he stopped competing, he fed his enthusiasm for motor racing by founding a motor racing team named after his company and later constructing the Gilby racing car. The team competed in 12 Formula One World Championship Grands Prix, including 6 with cars of their own construction, but scored no World Championship points. Keith Greene
Keith Anthony Greene (5 January 1938 – 8 March 2021) was a British racing driver from England. He raced in Formula One from to , participating in six World Championship Grands Prix and numerous non-Championship races. Prior to Formula One, Greene had a successful career in sportscars. In 1956 using a Cooper T39 he competed in 11 national level races finishing outside the top six on only one occasion, with two wins and three other podium finishes. After retiring from driving, Greene became a team manager in Formula 5000 and sports car racing. He worked for Hexagon of Highgate in London running their newly formed motorcycle business in the mid 1970s. At that time he also managed Alain de Cadenet's Le Mans racing team. The Lola Mk4 and the derivative Mk4A were Formula One racing cars constructed by the Lola company in 1962. They were designed by Lola founder, owner and Chief Designer Eric Broadley at the request of Reg Parnell, proprietor of the ''Bowmaker Racing Team''. John Surtees
John Surtees, (11 February 1934 – 10 March 2017) was a British Grand Prix motorcycle road racer and Formula One driver. On his way to become a seven-time Grand Prix motorcycle World Champion, he won his first title in 1956, and followed with three consecutive doubles between 1958 and 1960, winning six World Championships in both the 500 and 350cc classes.
