1959–60 Cupa României
The 1959–60 Cupa României was the 22nd edition of Romania's most prestigious football cup competition. The title was won by Progresul București against Dinamo Obor București. Format The competition is an annual knockout tournament. In the first round proper, two pots were made, first pot with Divizia A teams and other teams till 16 and the second pot with the rest of teams qualified in this phase. Each tie is played as a single leg. It is the third season in the history of Cupa României when all the games are played on a neutral location. If a match is drawn after 90 minutes, the game goes in extra time, and if the scored is still tight after 120 minutes, then a replay will be played. In case the game is still tight after the replay, then the team from lower division will qualify for the next round. Fotbal Club Progresul București, commonly known as Progresul București or simply as Progresul, was a Romanian Association football, football club based in Bucharest. The team was founded in 1944 as ''B.N.R. București'', being the team of the National Bank of Romania (B.N.R.). Fotbal Club Rapid 1923, commonly known as Rapid București () or simply as Rapid, is a Romanian professional football club based in Bucharest, which competes in the Liga I. It was founded in 1923 by employees of the Grivița workshops as ''Asociația Culturală și Sportivă CFR'' ("CFR Cultural and Sports Association"). Domestically, Rapid București is one of the most successful clubs in the country, having won three national titles, 13 Cupa României and four Supercupa României. FCM Târgoviște
Fotbal Club Municipal Târgoviște (), commonly known as FCM Târgoviște, was a Romanian football team based in Târgoviște, Dâmbovița County, founded in 1948 and disbanded in 2018. FCM Târgoviște, which throughout history bore several other names, amassed nine appearances in the Divizia A, the highest tier of the Romanian league system, and their best result in the competition was finishing seventh in the 1978–79 campaign. CS Craiova
FC Caracal was a Romanian professional football club from Caracal, Olt County, Romania. History The club was founded in Craiova in 1949 under the name of Metalul Craiova. It had various names during its history (see below), but the name which made it famous was Electroputere Craiova. As Extensiv Craiova it played its last season in Liga I. In the middle of the 2003–04 season, Extensiv changed its name to FC Craiova, but with no connection to the FC Craiova that existed between 1940–1949. In 2004 the club was moved to Caracal and renamed ''FC Caracal''. After years of poor management and bad decisions, in 2013 the club was dissolved. CFR Arad
CFR Arad was a football club based in Arad, Romania, founded in 1921. History The club was born in 1921, and just after one year they merged with CS Gloria Arad, a team founded in 1913. Under the name Gloria CFR Arad they have the best performances inclusive a second place in Divizia A 1929–30. But in 1934, after just 12 years the club fell apart in CS Gloria Arad and CFR Arad. The separation was not propitious for CFR Arad who start playing again in lower divisions, while CS Gloria Arad lived her glory years in Romanian First League. They changed several names in the next years, till 1973 when they decide to merge again, this time with Vagonul Arad, under the name of ''Unirea Arad'' between 1973–1974 and ''Rapid Arad'' between 1974 and 1978. Fotbal Club Universitatea Cluj (), commonly known as Universitatea Cluj or simply as U Cluj, is a Romanian professional football club based in the city of Cluj-Napoca, Cluj County, that competes in the Liga I, the first tier of the Romanian league system.
