1958 South American Rugby Championship
The 1958 South American Rugby Championship was the second edition of the two tiered competition of the leading national Rugby Union teams in South America. The tournament was arranged seven years after the " Torneo Internacional played in 1951, and later recognized as the first edition of this competition. The tournament was played in Chile and won by Argentina. The 1951 South American Rugby Championship was the first edition of the two tiered competition of the leading national Rugby Union teams in South America. The tournament was arranged by the "River Plate Rugby Union" (currently " Argentine Rugby Union"). In February 1951 a match was organized in Buenos Aires, the first edition of Pan American Games, but it was not possible to arrange a tournament of rugby for those games, so a "Torneo Internacional" was arranged in September. South American Rugby Championship
The South American Rugby Championship refers to the continental rugby union championships for South America, organized by Sudamérica Rugby. The current name of the championships is ''South American Six Nations'', implemented in 2018. Throughout history, South American Championships have also existed for lower divisions of the rugby union championships, as well as youth and women tournaments, and editions for rugby sevens. History The South American Rugby Championship is a round-robin tournament, with each team playing each other once at a designated host stadium. The top level championship for men's rugby union, disputed annually, has received a number of different titles in history. It began in 1951 as ''Sudamericano de Rugby'', which lasted until 1998. Estadio Sausalito
Estadio Sausalito (; Sausalito Stadium) is a multi-purpose stadium in Viña del Mar, Chile. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home ground of CD Everton. The stadium holds 22,360 people, was built in 1929 and completely renovated in 2015. The stadium has hosted the 1962 World Cup, two times the Copa América (1991 and 2015) and a FIFA U-17 World Cup. The Argentine Rugby Union ( es, Unión Argentina de Rugby, abbreviated "UAR") is the governing body for rugby union in Argentina. It is a member of World Rugby, with a seat on that body's Executive Council, and a founding member of Sudamérica Rugby.
