The 1955 European Figure Skating Championships were held at the City Park Ice Rink in Budapest, Hungary from January 27 to 30. Manfred Schnelldorfer (born 2 May 1943) is a German former figure skater. He is the 1964 Olympic champion, the 1964 World champion, and an eight-time German national champion. Personal life Manfred Schnelldorfer was born on 2 May 1943 in Munich, Bavaria, the son of two figure skating coaches. His father had skated in an ice revue but saw its milieu as a harmful influence. Manfred Schnelldorfer studied architecture at TH-München but put his studies on hold for financial reasons. A resident of Munich, he is married and has two children. Career Competitive Schnelldorfer won his first competition at age eight. He was coached by his parents and skated for the Munich ERC club. Internationally, he represented the Federal Republic of Germany (West Germany). Schnelldorfer finished second behind Hans-Jürgen Bäumler at the German Junior Championships. György Czakó (born 11 July 1933 in Budapest, Hungary) is a Hungarian figure skater. He is a three-time (1951, 1952, 1954) Hungarian national champion. He represented Hungary at the 1952 Winter Olympics where he placed 12th. He is the father of Krisztina Czakó. Career György Czakó started skating at age 6 at the suggestion of a pediatrician. He won the Hungarian Figure Skating Championships three times and competed at the European Figure Skating Championships, the World Figure Skating Championships, and the 1952 Winter Olympics. He won the silver medal at the 1955 Winter Universiade. The Czako jump is named after him. After his retirement from competitive skating, he toured professionally. He joined the Ice-Revue in 1958. Tilo Gutzeit (born 27 January 1938) is a German figure skater who represented West Germany in competition. He is the 1955 German national champion. He represented the United Team of Germany at the 1956 Winter Olympics, where he placed 10th, and at the 1960 Winter Olympics, where he placed 9th. He represented the club Düsseldorfer EG in national level competition. Originally the results of the 1955 German Championships were miscalculated. Due to this Tilo Gutzeit received only the silver medal there and 12-year-old Manfred Schnelldorfer was announced as German Champion. Several months after these championships, Werner Rittberger, who was a judge at these championships, recalculated the results. The results were corrected and the medals were physically exchanged. Tilo Gutzeit was also a potential skating partner for pair skater Marika Kilius. She had to split from Franz Ningel due to her height.
