RIA Novosti (russian: РИА Новости), sometimes referred to as RIAN () or RIA (russian: РИА, label=none) is a Russian state-owned domestic news agency. On 9 December 2013 by a decree of Vladimir Putin it was liquidated and its assets and workforce were transferred to the newly created Rossiya Segodnya agency. On 8 April 2014 RIA Novosti was registered as part of the new agency. RIA Novosti is headquartered in Moscow. The chief editor is Anna Gavrilova. Content RIA Novosti was scheduled to be closed down in 2014; starting in March 2014, staff were informed that they had the option of transferring their contracts to Rossiya Segodnya or sign a redundancy contract. Lydia Wahlström
''Lydia'' Katarina Wahlström (28 June 1869 – 2 June 1954) was a Swedish historian, author and feminist. She was one of the founders of the National Association for Women's Suffrage and its chairman in 1909–1911. Life and career Wahlström was born in Lundby, Västmanland, the youngest, by eleven years, of the four daughter of the vicar Johan Gustaf Wahlström and Ida Schmidt. Her elder sister served as her first teacher and she said that was in some ways raised as a boy, and she enjoyed dressing like one. She studied at the Wallinska skolan in Stockholm, was accepted at the Uppsala University in 1888, became a Bachelor of Arts in history, Nordic languages and Political science and made a disputation in 1898. As a student, she founded the first organisation for female students at Uppsala University, whose members wore their students' caps in public even though it was considered unsuitable for their gender. Axel Pehrsson-Bramstorp
Axel Alarik Pehrsson-Bramstorp (born Axel Alarik Pehrsson; 19 August 1883 – 19 February 1954) was a Swedish politician and was Prime Minister of Sweden for a few months during 1936. As a parliamentarian he was known as Axel Pehrsson in Bramstorp, or just Bramstorp for short. In 1937 he officially added the name of his farm to his family name. Early life Axel Pehrsson was a member of a farming family in Öja (now in Ystad Municipality) in Skåne. His father's death made it impossible for him to continue his schooling. After the age of 14, he later completed some adult education courses in a ''folkhögskola'' (the equivalent of community college). His parents' farm was of considerable size. Johan Georg Harmenberg (born 8 September 1954 in Stockholm, Sweden) is a Swedish Olympic and world champion epee fencer. Early and personal life Harmenberg was born in Stockholm, Sweden. He completed two years of study at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 1975, leaving his course early (he would have graduated in 1977) before returning to Sweden, having been drafted by the Swedish army. He became a biotech executive and researcher. He now holds an MD and a PhD in virology from Karolinska Institute, Stockholm, Sweden, and has been the Chief Medical Officer of Oncopeptides AB since 2012. In September 2019, Harmenberg joined Beactica Therapeutics, a Swedish drug discovery company, as a clinical advisor. Lena Einhorn (born 19 May 1954) is a Swedish director and writer and former physician. Early life and family Einhorn was born on 19 May 1954 in Spånga, Sweden. Her mother, Nina, escaped the Warsaw ghetto during World War II and settled in Sweden, and her father, Jerzy, was a cancer specialist, politician and Holocaust survivor who wrote in 1966 a book about what he had experienced. Her younger brother is doctor and author, Stefan Einhorn. Career After graduating from the Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm with a doctorate in virology and tumor biology, she worked as a doctor, specialising in tumour viruses and the causes of cancer in fetuses and newborns. Peter Gösta Schantz, born on 28 April 1954 in Stockholm, Sweden, graduated as doctor in medical sciences at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm in 1986, became professor in human movement sciences at Mid-Sweden University in Östersund, Jämtland, in 2008, and professor in human biology, including the multidisciplinary field of movement, health and environment, at the Swedish School of Sport and Health Sciences, GIH, in Stockholm, Sweden, in 2013.
