The 1952–53 Czechoslovak Extraliga season was the 10th season of the Czechoslovak Extraliga, the top level of ice hockey in Czechoslovakia. 21 teams participated in the league, and TJ Spartak Praha Sokolovo won the championship. Czechoslovak Extraliga
The Czechoslovak First Ice Hockey League was the elite ice hockey league in Czechoslovakia from 1936 until 1993, when the country split into the Czech Republic and Slovakia. The Slovak Extraliga and Czech Extraliga formed from the split. History The most successful team in the number of titles was HC Dukla Jihlava with 12 titles. Walter Aircraft Engines is an aircraft engine manufacturer and former automotive manufacturer. Its notable products include the M601 turboprop. The company is based in Prague, Czech Republic. It has been a subsidiary of GE Aviation since July 2008. History Josef Walter founded the company in 1911 to make motorcycles and motor tricycles. It started to make automobiles in 1913: initially its own models, and later the Fiat 508, 514, 522 and 524 under licence. By 1926 Walter was Czechoslovakia's fourth-largest car maker by sales volume. In 1929 it still held fourth place, and production peaked at 1,498 cars for the year. By 1932 Walter production had slumped to 217 cars for the year. The figure recovered to 474 in 1933, but fell again to 102 in 1936 and to only 13 in 1937. Walter ceased car production in 1954. HK Poprad is a professional ice hockey team in the Slovak Extraliga, the top ice hockey league in Slovakia. It plays its games in Poprad, Slovakia. The squad's greatest success was 2nd place in the Slovak Extraliga in 2006, 2011 and 2021. The club is nicknamed ''Kamzíci'', which means "Chamois" in English. History After the dissolution of Czechoslovakia in 1993, Poprad started playing in the new independent Slovak Championship which was named the Slovak Extraliga. In the 1996–97 season Poprad was eliminated in the semifinals by HC Košice. In the next season 1997–98, they played semifinals again against HC Košice and lost 0–3. However, these two seasons were successful because the team won bronze medals. In the 2005–06 season the team reached the most remarkable success, but lost 3–4 in the final series against MsHK Žilina. HC Slezan Opava
HC Slezan Opava is an ice hockey team in the Second National Hockey League (third-level league) from Opava. The club was founded in 1945. As soon as in 1951, Slezan was promoted to the Czechoslovak First Ice Hockey League and played there until 1953. Slezan Opava played in the top-level league also two seasons in 1957 and 1960. In the Czech Republic, the club was promoted to the elite Czech Extraliga in 1996, after it won the promotion play-offs. The club had financial difficulties and sold the license for Extraliga in 1999 to HC Havířov. From the 1999/2000 season the club played the First National Hockey League (second-level league) but was relegated in the 2004/2005 season to the Second National Hockey League (third-level league). Hockey Club Slovan Bratislava ( sk, Hokejový klub Slovan Bratislava) is a professional ice hockey club based in Bratislava, Slovakia. In 2012, it left the Slovak Extraliga and joined the international Kontinental Hockey League (KHL). In 2019, it returned to the Tipos Extraliga. HC Olomouc
HC Olomouc is an ice hockey team in the Czech Extraliga (first-level league) from Olomouc. They won the Extraliga championship in the 1993/1994 season. In 1997 the club sold the Extraliga license to HC Karlovy Vary, and was thus relegated to the second-level league. They returned to the Extraliga in 2014. History On 18 April 2014 they returned to the Extraliga by finishing 2nd in the relegation playoffs. 2014/2015 season started very well and by the end of year, team was on 5th place and even beaten elite team, HC Sparta Praha. But then a rapid fall came and the team fell from 5th place to 13th, thus it had to play play-outs and then relegation play-offs. They ended on 1st place, staying in league with Piráti Chomutov.
