President Of Chile
The president of Chile ( es, Presidente de Chile), officially known as the President of the Republic of Chile ( es, Presidente de la República de Chile), is the head of state and head of government of the Republic of Chile. The president is responsible for both the Government of Chile and state administration. Although its role and significance has changed over the history of Chile, as well as its position and relations with other actors in the national political organization, it is one of the most prominent political offices. It is also considered one of the institutions that make up the "Historic Constitution of Chile", and is essential to the country's political stability. Under the current Constitution (adopted in 1980), the president serves a four-year term, with immediate re-election being prohibited. Arturo Alessandri
Arturo Fortunato Alessandri Palma (; December 20, 1868 – August 24, 1950) was a Chilean political figure and reformer who served thrice as president of Chile, first from 1920 to 1924, then from March to October 1925, and finally from 1932 to 1938. Early life Arturo Alessandri was the son of Pedro Alessandri Vargas and Susana Palma Guzmán. His grandfather, Pietro Allesandri Tarzi, was an Italian immigrant from Tuscany who had arrived in Chile from Argentina. Alessandri’s father, Pedro, became head of the family at the age of 19; at the time of Alessandri’s birth, he ran an estate in Longaví. Augusto Goemine Thomson, who adopted the pseudonym Augusto d’Halmar (April 23, 1882 – January 27, 1950) was a Chilean writer who earned the ''National Prize for Literature'' in 1942. D’Halmar was the son of Auguste Goemine, a French navigator, and Manuela Thomson. He was born in Santiago de Chile, although he himself claimed to have been born in Valparaiso. He became widely known in Chile by his adopted ''nom de plume'', Augusto d’Halmar, in honour of his maternal great grandfather the Swede Baron de d’Halmar. His paternal great grandfather was the Scotsman Alexander Cross. Augusto was left an orphan at the age of 10 and he was reared by his stepsisters. Clorinda Érika Patricia Maldonado Aravena (born September 17, 1950), better known as just Patricia Maldonado, is a Chilean singer and television presenter. In the 1970s to the late 1990s, she was active as a singer and political activist. Maldonado is widely known in the Chilean media for her strong personality and political controversy. Artistic career Maldonado began her career as a performer of boleros and ballads during the 1970s and 1980s. In 1979, she gained stardom with the song "La quintralada", composed by Florcita Motuda. That same year, she represented Chile at the OTI Festival held in Caracas, Venezuela, with the song "La Música", by Scottie Scott. Mario Ignacio Osbén Méndez (14 July 1950 – 7 February 2021) was a Chilean footballer who played as a goalkeeper. Nicknamed "El Gato" ("The Cat"), he played for Ñublense, Club de Deportes Concepción, Unión Española, Colo Colo and Cobreloa during his professional career. He represented the Chile national team at the 1982 FIFA World Cup, playing all three matches. Hernán Rivera Letelier (born 11 July 1950 in Talca, Chile) is a Chilean novelist. Until the age of 11 he lived in the Algorta saltpeter mining town, in the north of Chile. When it was closed down, he and his family moved to Antofagasta, where his mother died. His siblings went to live with his aunts. He stayed in Antofagasta, alone, until he was about 11. To survive, he sold newspapers. Later he worked as a messenger for Anglo Lautaro Nirate Company, until his thirst for adventure led him to spend three years traveling in Chile, Bolivia, Perú, Ecuador and Argentina. He returned to Antofagasta in 1973 and began to work at another company, Mantos Blancos. He married a 17-year-old girl when he was 24. Later he left for Pedro de Valdivia, another saltpeter mining town. He completed his seventh and eighth years of study at night school, and at the Inacap educational institute he earned his license as a secondary education instructor. Carlos Caszely
Carlos Humberto Caszely Garrido (born 5 July 1950 in Santiago, Chile) is a Chilean former footballer, nicknamed "Rey del metro cuadrado" ( en, King of the square meter, pt, O Rei do Metro Quadrado), who played as a forward. Regarded as one of Chile's most important players, between 1969 and 1985, Caszely won 48 caps and scored 29 goals for the Chile national team, including participations in the 1974 and 1982 World Cups. Paco Saval (born ''Francisco Leiva-Saval''; June 25, 1950 in Santiago, Chile) is a keyboard player, producer, composer and singer based in Cologne. Biography Paco Saval was born in 1950 in Chile where he made his first records at the age of 15. In 1969 Saval moved to Madrid to study sound engineering. From there he moved to Leeds in 1975, where he worked with musicians of the Leeds College of Music. In 1978 Saval came to Cologne and played in the band Santiago that won the Deutscher Schallplattenpreis in 1979. From 1980 he played in the Food Band and with many other bands such as the live band of the RTL Nachtshow, a late night show on German television. Saval was on tour with Rory Gallagher and Sally Oldfield.
