The 1948–53 Central European International Cup was the fifth edition of the Central European International Cup played between 1948 and 1953. It was played in a round robin tournament between five teams involved in the tournament. Ferenc Puskás
Ferenc Puskás (, ; born Ferenc Purczeld; 1 April 1927 – 17 November 2006) was a Hungarian football player and manager, widely regarded as one of the greatest players of all time and the sport's first international superstar. A forward, he scored 84 goals in 85 international matches for Hungary and played four international matches for Spain. He became an Olympic champion in 1952 and led his nation to the final of the 1954 World Cup. He won three European Cups (1959, 1960, 1966), ten national championships (five Hungarian and five Spanish Primera División) and eight top individual scoring honors. Known as the "Galloping Major", in 1995 he was recognized as the greatest top division scorer of the 20th century by the IFFHS. Theodor Wagner
Theodor "Turl" Wagner (6 August 1927 – 21 January 2020) was an Austrian footballer who played as a striker. International career He made his debut for Austria in a November 1946 friendly match against Switzerland and was a participant at the 1954 FIFA World Cup, where he scored a hat-trick in the 7–5 quarterfinal win over Switzerland. He earned 46 caps, scoring 22 goals. His last international was a March 1957 friendly match against West Germany. Stadion Rankhof is a football stadium in Basel, Switzerland. It has a capacity of 7,600 with 1,000 seats and 6,600 standing places. The record attendance of the original stadium was about 30,000 spectators. The stadium was rebuilt between 1993 and 1995. The stands face south towards the grass pitch. The north side of the stadium is completely constructed of glass to protect against the wind. The dimension of the pitch is 100 x 64 metres. It has a grass surface and flood-lighting. The second pitch, north of the stands, is the same size and also has flood-lighting. Rankhof has four training and one synthetic pitch, this also has flood-lights. Jaroslav Cejp
Jaroslav Cejp (7 April 1924 – 22 March 2002) was a Czechoslovak footballer who played as a forward. He won two Czechoslovak First League titles with Sparta Prague between 1945 and 1948, during which time he also finished as top scorer of the First League. As well as Sparta, he also played for SK Pardubice at the top level. Born in Carpathian Ruthenia, Cejp represented Czechoslovakia internationally, scoring 10 goals in 14 appearances for his nation between 1946 and 1951. Club career Cejp began his football career with SK Pardubice, with whom he played across three seasons beginning in 1943. During the 1945–46 season, Cejp moved to Sparta Prague, becoming part of a team which went a Czechoslovak record 40 matches unbeaten and winning his first Czechoslovak league title that season. The 1948 Balkan Cup, officially called the Balkan and Central European Championship, was played between April and November 1948 between Albania, Romania, Bulgaria, Yugoslavia, Hungary, Poland and Czechoslovakia. It was Poland and Czechoslovakia's first and only participation in the tournament, which was not completed. Hungary was leading the table at the time it was abandoned.
