Ögmundur Jónasson
Ögmundur Jónasson (born 17 July 1948) is an Icelandic politician who has served as a member of Althingi, the Icelandic Parliament, since 1995. He is currently the Chairman of the Parliament’s Constitutional and Supervisory Committee and is a representative to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe. He is the former Minister of the Interior (2011-2013); Minister of Justice and Human Rights and Minister of Transport, Communications and Local Government (2010-2011); and Minister of Health and Social Security (2009). Apart from his political career, Ögmundur has been a journalist and a trade union leader. He has been active in various grass-root activities, a prolific commentator and public speaker. He graduated from the University of Edinburgh with degrees in History and Political Science and was for a number of years a part-time Lecturer at the University of Iceland. Vilmundur Gylfason (7 August 1948 – 19 June 1983) was an Icelandic politician, historian and poet. He was the son of Gylfi Þorsteinsson Gíslason and Guðrún Vilmundardóttir. Family Vilmundur's father was Gylfi Þorsteinsson Gíslason, a member of parliament, government minister and professor. His mother, Guðrún Vilmundardóttir, was a housewife and worked as a journalist for some time. Vilmundur had two brothers, Þorsteinn Gylfason the philosopher, and Þorvaldur Gylfason, an economist. Vilmundur was married to Valgerður Bjarnadóttir, daughter of Bjarni Benediktsson. Life and work Vilmundur studied at Menntaskólinn í Reykjavík, an Icelandic Junior College, from 1964 to 1968. Sigurður Pálsson
Sigurður Pálsson (born Skinnastaður, 30 July 1948 – 19 September 2017) was an Icelandic poet, author and translator. He worked primarily in cinema and television, theatre, and university teaching. He is particularly noted, among Icelandic writers, for his close links with France. Biography Sigurður grew up in the north-east of Iceland. He died of illness in 2017. Education Sigurður graduated from Menntaskólinn í Reykjavík in 1967, having been taught French by, amongst others, Vigdís Finnbogadóttir; and then, at the age of 19, proceeded to France. He studied French from 1967-68 in Paris and Toulouse, before taking a ''Diplôme universitaire d'études littéraires'' and the first part of an MA at University of Paris III: Sorbonne Nouvelle and studying cinema at the Conservatoire libre du cinéma français. Hrafn Gunnlaugsson (born 17 June 1948) is an Icelandic film director. He is the brother of mathematician Þorvaldur Gunnlaugsson and the lawyer Snædís Gunnlaugsdóttir and the actress Tinna Gunnlaugsdóttir. He is mostly known for his series of Viking films, sometimes called "Cod Westerns".
