1943–44 Slovenská Liga
The 1943–44 Slovenská liga (English:''Slovak league'') was the sixth season of the Slovenská liga, the first tier of league football in the Slovak Republic, formerly part of Czechoslovakia until the German occupation of the country in March 1939. In the Slovak Republic an independent Slovak league had been established in 1939 and played out its own championship which was won by ŠK Bratislava in 1943–44. In the German-annexed Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia a separate league, the ''Národní liga'' (English:''National league''), was played and won by Sparta Prague in the 1943–44 season. A national Czechoslovak championship was not played between 1939 and 1945. Table For the 1943–44 season ZTK Zvolen and Turčianský Sv. Martin had been newly promoted to the league. Czechoslovak First League
The Czechoslovak First League ( cs, 1. fotbalová liga, sk, 1. futbalová liga) was the premier football league in the Czechoslovakia from 1925 to 1993, with the exception of World War II. Czechoslovakia was occupied by German forces who formed Gauliga Sudetenland and Gauliga Böhmen und Mähren leagues on occupied territories. Until the 1934-35 season, no teams from Slovakia participated in the league. Czechs were allowed to run their own league in the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia, while Slovaks were granted their own independent Slovak State and created their own league. After the World War II the league was recreated. Description The league was dominated by clubs from Prague with Sparta Prague winning 19 titles, Dukla Prague 11 and Slavia Prague 9. The attendance record for the league was set on 4 September 1965, when 50,105 spectators attended a match between rivals Sparta and Slavia in Prague. MFK Ružomberok
MFK Ružomberok () is a Slovak football club, playing in the city of Ružomberok. History Established in 1906, the club's colours have been traditionally white, yellow and red, which are also featured on the town's flag. However, the sponsor Mondi Business Paper SCP introduced new colours in 2005: orange, black and white. In 1993 the club gained promotion to the Slovak Second Division for the first time and a second promotion to the Corgoň Liga in 1997. The club's trophy cabinet stayed empty until their centenary year, when in 2006 they lifted both the Corgoň Liga title and the Slovak Cup with the help of 21 goals from the league's joint top scorer Erik Jendrišek. Other stars of the team in this successful season were Jan Nezmar and Marek Sapara. TTS Trenčín
TTS Trenčín was a Slovak football club, playing in the town of Trenčín. History The club was founded in 1904 as Trencsény Torna Egyesület (TTE). TTS Trenčín first played in the top flight of Slovakia during World War II, when Slovak and Czech competitions were separated. During the sixties the team returned to the top flight, under new name Jednota Trenčín. The best place was in 1963 when the club became second after Dukla Prague. In 1966 and 1968 the team participated in the Mitropa Cup. In 1972 the club was relegated. After three seasons Jednota returned and played in the top flight until 1980. After this the team could never return and was even relegated to the third level in 1981. However Jednota was promoted immediately and changed the name back to TTS. MŠK Žilina
MŠK Žilina () is a Slovak football club based in the town of Žilina, that is playing in the Slovak Superliga. Since the league inception in 1993, the club has won 7 titles and comes second in All-time table that makes them one of the most successful teams in the competition. The club and their supporters alike are nicknamed ''Šošoni'' (after the '' Shoshone'' Native American tribe) and play their home games in the Štadión pod Dubňom.
