The 1934–35 NWHL season was the second season of the North West Hockey League, a minor professional ice hockey league in the Northwestern United States and Canada. North West Hockey League
The North West Hockey League was an ice hockey minor league with teams in the western United States and western Canada that existed from 1933 to 1936. It was formed from the Calgary and Vancouver franchises of the Western Canada Hockey League and three new teams. The league lasted for three seasons, after which the Portland, Vancouver, and Seattle franchises left to form a reconstituted Pacific Coast Hockey League. Seattle Seahawks (hockey)
The Seattle Seahawks were a minor professional hockey team based in Seattle, Washington, playing in the North West Hockey League (NWHL) from 1933 to 1936 and then the Pacific Coast Hockey League until 1941. They were the NWHL champions in 1935-36. Their first coach and general manager was Frank Foyston, a member of the Hockey Hall of Fame. Portland Buckaroos
The Portland Buckaroos was the name of several professional ice hockey teams based in Portland, Oregon. PCHL/NWHL era (1928–1941) The first incarnation of Portland Buckaroos played their home games at the Portland Ice Arena. The Buckaroos initially played in the four-team Pacific Coast Hockey League (PCHL) from 1928 to 1931. The PCHL folded in 1931, and in 1933, the Buckaroos joined the new North West Hockey League. In 1936, the Buckaroos rejoined the reconstituted four-team PCHL, and won league championships in 1937 and 1939. With the onset of World War II, the PCHL folded again in 1941. In 1944, it was again resurrected, but this time, Portland's team was the Portland Eagles (known as the ''Portland Penguins'' for one season). Edmonton Eskimos (ice Hockey)
The Edmonton Eskimos were a Canadian amateur and later professional men's ice hockey team that existed from 1911 to 1927. After playing in senior hockey in the Alberta-based Big-4 League, the Eskimos joined the Western Canada Hockey League (WCHL) for the inaugural 1921–22 WCHL season, and played for the Stanley Cup against the Ottawa Senators in 1923, as the WCHL Champions. Team alumni include Hockey Hall of Fame members Eddie Shore, Duke Keats and Bullet Joe Simpson. While the Edmonton Eskimos disbanded after the 1926–27 season, the name was adopted by a new team in 1932–33, playing for four years before it disbanded. Calgary Tigers
The Calgary Tigers, often nicknamed the ''Bengals'', were an ice hockey team based in Calgary, Alberta, Canada from 1920 until 1927 as members of the Big-4 League, Western Canada Hockey League and Prairie Hockey League. The Tigers were revived in 1932, playing for a short-lived four years in the North Western Hockey League. They played their games at the Victoria Arena.
