1930 Mitropa Cup
The 1930 season of the Mitropa Cup football club tournament was won by Rapid Vienna in a two-legged final against Sparta Prague. This was the fourth edition of the tournament. The holders, Újpesti FC, lost in the quarter final against the italian team AS Ambrosiana. The final was played on 2 and 12 November 1930 in Prague and Vienna. The finalists Sparta Prague and Rapid Wien had played against each other in the 1927 Mitropa Cup final, with Sparta winning on aggregate 7–3. Rapid were playing in their third Mitropa Cup final in four years. Sparta lost at home 0–2, the first away victory in a Mitropa Cup final. Sparta's 3–2 away win, the second away victory in a Mitropa Cup final, meant that Rapid became the first Austrian club to win this tournament. SK Rapid Wien
Sportklub Rapid Wien (), commonly known as Rapid Vienna, is an Austrian football club playing in the country's capital city of Vienna. Rapid has won the most Austrian championship titles (32), including the first title in the season 1911–12, as well as a German championship in 1941 during Nazi rule. First Vienna FC
First Vienna FC is an Austrian association football club based in the Döbling district of Vienna. Established on 22 August 1894, it is the country's oldest team and has played a notable role in the history of the game there. It is familiarly known to Austrians by the English name ''Vienna''. __TOC__ History In the early 1890s English and Austrian gardeners working for Nathaniel Anselm von Rothschild began to play football on his estates. To avoid further damage to his flowers Nathaniel ceded them a pasture nearby and also granted the team's blue-yellow kits, former jockey costumes of his riding stable. The team captain of an association football team, sometimes known as the skipper, is a team member chosen to be the on-pitch leader of the team; they are often one of the older or more experienced members of the squad, or a player that can heavily influence a game or has good leadership qualities. Karel Pešek
Karel "Káďa" Pešek (20 September 1895 in Olomouc, Austria-Hungary – 30 September 1970 in Prague, Czechoslovakia) was a Czechoslovak ice hockey and football player. He played as midfielder for Sparta Prague and the Czechoslovak football national team. He played from 1913 to 1933 (interrupted only by military service during World War I), scoring 149 goals in his club career. Pešek was voted by IFFHS (International Federation of Football History and Statistics) as the 81st greatest European footballer of the 20th century, and the third greatest Czechoslovakian player of the 20th century behind Josef Bican and Josef Masopust. Career With Sparta Prague, Pešek won the Czechoslovakian national title in 1919, 1922, 1926, 1927 and 1932, and also won the inaugural edition of the Mitropa Cup in 1927. Ferdinand Wesely
Ferdinand Wesely (30 May 1897 – 19 March 1949) was an Austrian footballer and coach. He was son of the shoemaker Jakob Wesely (d. 1918) and Antonie. As a first class seaman, he was assigned to the battleship SMS Zrínyi in August 1914 and served on various ships in the Navy throughout the First World War. As of 1929 he was married to the merchant's daughter Martha née Hörmann. Club career The left winger began his career at Rennweger SV in 1912 and in 1920 he switched to Rapid, Austria's leading football club at the time. He played 11 years with the club and won Austrian Championship in 1920–21, 1922–23, 1928–29 and 1929–30. He won the Austrian Cup in the season 1926–27 and the Mitropa Cup in 1930.
