1927–28 Prima Divisione
The 1927–28 Prima Divisione was the 2nd edition of a second tier tournament of the Italian Football Championship which was organized at national level. Team selection The format of the championship was confirmed, but AS Roma and SSC Napoli received a wild card to join the National Division as guests, so the Southern group remained solely with eight clubs. Following merging of new clubs in Rome and Genoa, both Udinese and Anconitana were re-elected in the league. AC Monza, Ponziana, Carrarese and Ternana were promoted from the inter-regional leagues. Following various clubs merging and financial bankruptcies for a till weak Southern football, Valenzana and Lecco Calcio from the North, and Tivoli and US Savoia from the South were invited to join the league. Prima Divisione
Prima Divisione (''First Division'') was the name of the first level of the Italian Football Championship from 1921 to 1926. The competition was initially founded in opposition to the FIGC by the richest clubs of Northern Italy, which disagreed the old format of the championship, based on plethoric regional groups. In 1921–22, two concurrent championships took place, before FIGC accepted the new format for 1922–23. History The Prima Divisione was divided in two leagues: Lega Nord ''(Northern League)'' and Lega Sud ''(Southern League)''. The Lega Nord championship was the main competition, and it was divided in two groups of twelve teams each. Udinese Calcio, commonly referred to as Udinese, is a professional Italian football club based in Udine, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, that currently plays in Serie A. It was founded on 30 November 1896 as a sports club, and on 5 July 1911 as a football club. The traditional team home kit is black and white striped shirt, black shorts, and white socks. Unione Sportiva Triestina Calcio 1918, commonly referred to as Triestina, is an Italian football club based in Trieste, Friuli-Venezia Giulia. Fiumana
Unione Sportiva Fiumana or U.S. Fiumana was an Italian football club based in the present-day Croatian city of Rijeka and the predecessor of HNK Rijeka. The club was active between 1926 and 1945, at the time when the city was part of the Kingdom of Italy and was commonly referred to by its Italian name ''Fiume''. Savoia 1908 is an Italian association football club located in Torre Annunziata, Campania. It currently plays in Eccellenza. It is one of the oldest companies in southern Italy. It was founded on 21 November 1908 by a group of industrial mills and pasta factories, with the help of other characters from the middle-class of Torre Annunziata. Ternana Calcio, commonly referred to as Ternana, is an Italian football club based in Terni, Umbria. The club was founded in 1925 and refounded in 1993.
