Monarchy Of Norway
The Norwegian monarch is the head of state of Norway, which is a constitutional and hereditary monarchy with a parliamentary system. The Norwegian monarchy can trace its line back to the reign of Harald Fairhair and the previous petty kingdoms which were united to form Norway; it has been in unions with both Sweden and Denmark for long periods. The present monarch is King Harald V, who has reigned since 17 January 1991, succeeding his father, Olav V. The heir apparent is his only son, Crown Prince Haakon. The crown prince undertakes various public ceremonial functions, as does the king's wife, Queen Sonja. The crown prince also acts as regent in the king's absence. There are several other members of the royal family, including the king's daughter, grandchildren and sister. Ottar Gjermundshaug
Ottar Gjermundshaug (29 January 1925, Alvdal – 10 April 1963) was a Norwegian nordic combined skier who competed in the early 1950s. He won a silver medal in the individual event at the 1950 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in Lake Placid, New York. Gjermundshaug also finished sixth in the individual event and 18th in the 18 km cross-country skiing event at the 1952 Winter Olympics in Oslo. He represented Alvdal IL Alvdal Idrettslag is a Norwegian sports club from Alvdal, founded in 1902. Bergljot Hobæk Haff
Bergljot Hobæk Haff (1 May 1925 – 12 February 2016) was a Norwegian educator and novelist. Biography Haff was born at Botne (now Holmestrand) in Vestfold, Norway. Her parents were Lars Hobæk (1883–1938) and Martha Aarvold (1895–1987). Both of her parents were educators. She graduated from the Sandefjord Gymnasium in 1943. In 1947, she graduated from Oslo lærerhøgskole (now Oslo University College) with a degree in education. Upon completing her education, she moved to Denmark and taught school for 24 years before returning to Oslo in 1972. She made her debut with the novel ''Raset'' in 1956. She has written both contemporary and historical novels. Her writing has been characterized by original narrative and often by poetical imagination. Her works have also featured both mythical and allegorical interpretation. Her novels have been translated into several languages including English, French, Dutch, Spanish, Italian, Swedish and Lithuanian. Eskild Jensen
Eskild Jensen (28 April 1925 – 1 April 2013) is a Norwegian civil servant and politician for the Labour Party. He was born in Vestre Aker as a son of executive Eskild Jensen Sr. (1876–1955) and teacher Elizabeth Kobro (1889–1985). In 1957 he married civil servant Inger Aarskog. He enrolled at Oslo Commerce School, but as the occupation of Norway by Nazi Germany commenced in the same year, Jensen soon prioritized to work in the Norwegian resistance movement. He distributed an illegal newspaper compiled from BBC radio reports; listening to these was also illegal. He was caught by Gestapo in 1942, tortured, and imprisoned in the concentration camps Grini and from May 1943 to 1945 Sachsenhausen. After the war Jensen graduated in economics from the University of Oslo. In 1961 he was hired in the Ministry of Finance. Anne-Olaug Ingeborgrud
Anne-Olaug Ingeborgrud (28 April 1925 in Nes, Akershus, Nes – 17 March 2003) was a Norwegian politician for the Christian Democratic Party of Norway, Christian Democratic Party. She was elected to the Storting, Norwegian Parliament from Akershus in 1977, but was not re-elected in 1981. She had previously served as a deputy representative during the term 1973–1977. From 1983 to 1985, during the second cabinet Willoch, she was appointed State Secretary#Norway, State Secretary in the Norwegian Ministry of Church and Education, Ministry of Church and Education. On the local level she was a member of Nes, Akershus, Nes municipal council (Norway), municipal council from 1959 to 1971. She served as vice leader of the national party from 1985 to 1987. The online encyclopedia is among the most-read Norwegian published sites, with more than two million unique visitors per month. Paper editions 1978–2007 The ''SNL'' was created in 1978, when the two publishing houses Aschehoug and Gyldendal merged their encyclopedias and created the company Kunnskapsforlaget. Up until 1978 the two publishing houses of Aschehoug and Gyldendal, Norway's two largest, had published ' and ', respectively. The respective first editions were published in 1907–1913 (Aschehoug) and 1933–1934 (Gyldendal).
