Auguste Verdyck (8 February 1902 in Schoten – 14 February 1988 in Merksem) was a Belgian professional road bicycle racer. He was a professional from 1924 to 1939. His brother Lucien Verdijck was also a professional cyclist. Marcel Bidot
Marcel Bidot (21 December 1902 – 26 January 1995) was a French professional road bicycle racer who won two stages of the Tour de France and became manager of the French national team. He led the team in 12 Tours and won six of them. Racing Marcel Bidot was the son of a failed café owner, a former racing cyclist who then ran one of the clubs in his home town of Troyes, in the Champagne region. His son, Marcel, worked for the Crédit Lyonnais bank in the town and rode for his father's club. He went training after work at 7pm. He turned professional in 1923 and at Alcyon earned 2,000 francs a month, ten times his pay at the bank. "At the time you could get a good meal for 20 francs and a newspaper for 25 centimes," he said. He rode every Tour de France from 1926 to 1930 and then again in 1932. The Tour of the Basque Country (Officially: ''Itzulia Basque Country'', es, Vuelta al País Vasco, links=no, eu, Euskal Herriko Itzulia) is an annual road bicycle racing, road cycling stage race held in the Basque Country (autonomous community), Spanish Basque Country in April. It is one of the races that make up the UCI World Tour calendar. As the Basque Country is a mountainous area, there are few flat stages, and thus the event favors those who are strong climbing specialist, climbers. The race is characterized by its short stages, rarely exceeding 200 km, and steep ascents. While the ascents featured in the race aren't particularly high compared to other stage races, they are among the steepest seen in professional cycling, some having sections with Grade (slope), gradients reaching well above 20%. Albert Dejonghe (Middelkerke, 14 February 1894 — Middelkerke, 23 February 1981) was a Belgian professional road bicycle racer. He won Paris–Roubaix in 1922, one stage in the 1923 Tour de France and finished 5th and 6th in the 1925 and 1926 Tour de France. Career In 1919 following The Great War a race was held touring the battlefields of Belgium, Luxembourg and France. Dejonghe won stage two of the race but did not end up placing highly overall. In 1922 Dejonghe won Paris–Roubaix a cycling monument. He is one of two cyclists to ever win the prestigious race while sporting a mustache. Aimé Dossche (28 March 1902 - 30 October 1985) was a Belgian racing cyclist who won two stages in the 1926 Tour de France and one stage in the 1929 Tour de France, and as a result wore the yellow jersey for three days., although some sources indicate that two of those days he joined the lead with Aime Déolet, Marcel Bidot and Maurice Dewaele. Louis Mottiat (6 July 1889 – 5 June 1972) was a Belgian professional road bicycle racer. Mottiat was born in Bouffioulx, and because of his endurance was nicknamed 'the iron man'.
