1924 German Football Championship
The 1924 German football championship, the 17th edition of the competition, was won by 1. FC Nürnberg, defeating Hamburger SV 2–0 in the final. For 1. FC Nürnberg it was the third national championship. It was part of Nuremberg's most successful era where the club won five titles in eight seasons from 1920 to 1927, missing out on a sixth one in the inconclusive 1922 championship. For Hamburger SV, the defending champions, it was the third final appearance in three season, having faced Nuremberg once before in the 1922 final. Hamburg's next final appearance would come in 1928 when it defeated Hertha BSC. SpVgg Leipzig's Erich Roßburg and 1. FC Nürnberg's Luitpold Popp were the top scorers of the 1924 championship with three goals each. Seven club qualified for the knock-out competition, the champions of each of the seven regional football championships. Eintracht Duisburg is a German sportsclub from the city of Duisburg, North Rhine-Westphalia. Hans Kalb
Hans Kalb (3 August 1899 – 5 April 1945) was a German international footballer. International career The 1. FC Nürnberg player won 15 caps (two goals) for Germany. Kalb was sent off in the match against Uruguay at the 1928 Olympic Games for a deliberate foul against Uruguayan goal scorer Pedro Petrone. Uruguay won the game 4-1, and Kalb received a one year ban from the German Football Association, which ended his international career. Personal life In the First World War he served as an artilleryman in the German Army. Hans Schmidt (23 December 1893 – 31 January 1971) was a German international footballer and manager. Club career As a player, he won the German football championship on four occasions, three of which he won with 1. FC Nürnberg. International career In 1913, he made his debut for the Germany national team at the age of 19 in a 2–1 defeat against Switzerland. He was capped 16 times for his country. Managerial career In 1933 he joined Schalke 04, leading the club to its first ever German football championship victory a year later. He went on to win two further championships with the club in 1935 and 1937. The club also won the 1937 Tschammerpokal, becoming the first German club to do the double. Heinrich Stuhlfauth
Heinrich Stuhlfauth (11 January 1896 – 12 September 1966) was a German goalkeeper. He was part of Germany's team at the 1928 Summer Olympics. Playing career From 1916 to 1933 he played in 606 games for 1. FC Nürnberg, then a dominating team in German football, winning five national championships (1920, 1921, 1924, 1925, 1927). Between 1918 and 1922 Nuremberg did not lose in 104 association games, with a goal difference of 480:47. He also gained 21 international caps, captaining the German national side in six appearances. He surpassed the record of Eugen Kipp (19 games) for the most appearances for the national team. His last international cap was a 0–2 loss against Italy in Frankfurt in 1930. Stuhlfauth was considered one of the best goalkeepers of his time, along with legendary Spanish keeper Ricardo Zamora. Deutsches Stadion was a multi-use sports stadium in Berlin, Germany. It was located at Deutsches Sportforum in the present-day Westend quarter on the northern rim of the large Grunewald forest. Wolfgang Strobel (17 October 1896 – 19 April 1945) was a German football forward who played for 1. FC Nürnberg. Strobel joined Nürnberg in 1917, and went on to win four German football championships with the club. He was also capped four times by the German national team between 1922 and 1924.
