Bill Williams (rugby League)
Bill Williams (1899 – 21 November 1927) was Kiwi number 123. He played in 4 test matches for New Zealand debuting in 1919 and last playing for them in 1921. Williams played for the Newton Rangers club in Auckland from 1915 to 1924. Early life William (Billy) Williams was born on February 7, 1898 in Karangahake, Ohinemure, Waikato. His father was also named William Williams (b.1870-1945) and his mother Emma (Ella) Josephine Houghton (1875-1934). Auckland Rugby League Team
The Auckland rugby league team is the team which traditionally represents all of the clubs which play in the Auckland Rugby League competition. As well as a senior men's team there are also Auckland representative teams throughout the various age groups such as under 15s, under 17s, under 19s and under 21s. Under the new zone scheme introduced in 2010 the Auckland team represents the North Shore, East Auckland and West Auckland, while South Auckland is represented by the Counties Manukau rugby league team. The zone team is named the Akarana Falcons. Wally Somers
Walter Thomas "Wally" Somers was a New Zealand rugby league player who represented New Zealand. Early life Walter Thomas Somers was born on June 14, 1899. He was the son of Amy Maria (Lawrence) and Daniel Somers. He had two sisters, Eileen Elizabeth Findlay (1896-1979) and Zelda Nina Goffin (1898-1966), and one brother Daniel Robert Lawrence Somers (1894-1944). Playing career Somers played for Newton Rangers in the Auckland Rugby League competition and appeared in a remarkable, for the era, 138 games for them from 1917 to 1929. Early in the 1929 season, he and Craddock Dufty were frustrated with the selection of the Newton team and Somers decided to retire. The following season both he and Dufty joined the Ellerslie United club where Somers played 11 matches scoring 3 tries and kicking a conversion and a penalty before retiring for the final time. Nelson Bass
Nelson Bass (1894–1963) was a New Zealand rugby league player who represented New Zealand in four test matches between 1919 and 1921. Playing career Bass played for the Newton Rangers club in the Auckland Rugby League competition for 4 seasons (1919–1922) before transferring to the Marist Old Boys in 1923. He again transferred at the conclusion of the 1923 season, this time to the City Rovers. Bass played in four test matches for New Zealand between 1919 and 1921, against Australia and Great Britain. Ivan Stewart (rugby League)
Ivan Stewart (1894–1952) played for the New Zealand rugby league team. He was Kiwi number 119 and played one test, against Australia in 1919. He played for the North Shore Albions after returning from the war in 1917, and then for City Rovers in the Auckland Rugby League competition from 1918 to 1920. Tom Haddon
Arthur Thompson "Tom" Haddon (6 March 1886 — 26 July 1976) was a New Zealand rugby league player. He was Kiwi number 136 after playing two tests for New Zealand against Australia in 1919. Early life Arthur Thompson Haddon was born in Yorkshire, England and came to New Zealand in 1910. He joined the North Shore Albions that same year and played for their senior side. Playing career North Shore Albions Tom Haddon played for North Shore Albions from 1910 until 1913 before he joined Grafton Athletic in their first season. In 1914, he was elected on to their committee and also was chosen as one of their selectors. At this stage of his career he played primarily on the wing before later on moving into the forwards. William George Walsh was a New Zealand rugby league player. He first played for New Zealand in 1919 on the tour of Australia and became Kiwi number 122. He ended with 8 matches for New Zealand in total playing one test against Australia. He played his entire club career with the Ponsonby Ponies, Ponsonby United club in the Auckland Rugby League. Alwin John "Dougie" McGregor (1889–1963) was a dual-code rugby footballer who represented New Zealand in both rugby union and rugby league. Bill Davidson (rugby League)
Bill Davidson is a New Zealand rugby league footballer who represented New Zealand. A brother, Ben, also played for New Zealand while another brother, George, represented New Zealand at the 1920 Olympic Games. Playing career A goal kicking fullback, Davidson played for the City Rovers between 1915 and 1923 in the Auckland Rugby League competition. Even as a young player his goal kicking became well known. Keith Helander
Keith Ervid Helander (28 March 1892 – 9 March 1960) was a New Zealand rugby league player. He played one test for the Kiwis in 1919 against Australia, becoming the 135th player for the national side, in addition to one game for Auckland. In late 1921 he switched codes to Rugby Union and represented Auckland. Helander fought for New Zealand in World War 1.
